Another old Simpsons-related name I assume is still alive is Margaret Groening, Matt's mom and Marge Simpson's namesake. She was living in 2008 and I can't find anything saying that she died. She'd be 90 at this point.

Sorry, skipped the first list

• Kirk Douglas, 92

skipped the rest

Was this before the stroke? I currently can't imagine Kirk Douglas being a good voice-actor.

It's one of the better known episodes - "The Day the Violence Died" where Bart helps a homeless man who claims he created Itchy and Scratchy. Kirk voiced the Homeless Man - he did pretty good.

ETA - Sorry, forget to answer your question - It was in the 1996 season!

You can add Michael Jackson to the dead list.

Well I didn't except to have to update that any time soon; 15 guest stars have died before the age of 50.

Anyway, Jackson didn't just guest star, he also co-wrote Bart's UK number one hit "Do the Bartman".

And thus his legacy to popular music is secured...

Seems Eartha Kitt recorded a part for the show shortly before she died last year.

Is this the first posthumous apearence on the Simpsons, or has there been more?

Phil Hartman and Doris Grau made a few appearances after their deaths, but she is the first "true" guest star to appear posthumously as Grau and Hartman were both essentially cast members.

I'm going to post this here because the only reason I recognised this guy's name was because he'd been on The Simpsons. Anyway, said guy is American comedian Robert Schimmel, who I can't see mentioned anywhere else on here... He had a heart attack in 1998, survived non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2000 (despite being told he had 6 months to live), has Hep C, and now, last month, revealed he has cirrhosis of the liver and needs a transplant. So, one to watch I guess, as I think he'd probably manage to get a UK obit.

Yay, that's my favourite ever episode of the Simpsons. The old guy (Chester J Lampwick) spends the money he receives for being the creator of Itchy & Scratchy to buy a rocket car and a solid gold house, two items to which I shall always aspire.

Didn't Dennis Hopper also appear in the Simpson's once?

Call me crazy, but when someone is old and they die of something that old people die of it is hardly a curse.

Hence the sarcastic quote marks, but I'd rather that part of topic name got removed.

No.

After all that he dies in a car crash.

P.S. Can we change the thread name to something not shit? The Simpsons (and other animation) or something like that?

It can be changed to whatever you think would be a more appropriate name. We already have a animation thread.

Yeah I was pretty sure we did. Ok, well I'd say just rename it as 'The Simpsons' then, please.
