They happen several times a year in the Bristol Channel too because its built around an ancient fault line, but even the biggest earthquake in recorded UK history (in Wales in the 1980s) was a whole 5.4 (bigger than today's 4.4) and it caused... minor damage to some chimneys. One that is actually felt across a wide area of the country (Cornwall to Liverpool (some outlier reports of up to Blackpool) and wales through to central England for this one) included reports of the movement of objects. Anything above about mag 4.0 will usually involve the movement of objects near the epicentre - this was a mag 4.2 or above according to USGS. I'm not saying some random minor tremor that shakes your door handle should be reported but this is a pretty big one as UK standards go. It'd be nice for Britain to be hit by at least one proper (mag 7.0 or above) earthquake in my lifetime though, with no loss of life. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

So I ask: Do Americans carry their weapons when travelling in other countries where that isn't the norm?
