One of the hardest realizations that one can have is that you don't love yourself enough. I've had that realization recently, and it's really hard for me to soak it in right now, but I know that this realization is true.

Lol, fuck off Roey, right to the head of the handing out "narcissistic cuntos" badges

If 'ever' you think you love yourself, you're fucked.

I'm a part time cunt (I sleep), I know that, I ain't gonna change and accept it.

Just do whit you can in Life by your own morals, and that is enough, but to contemplate loving yourself, holeeee fuck.

Horse's arse. Cringeable horse's arse.

An example of a hard realisation would be that life does not pan out like some American self help audiobook, articulated patronisingly by an appalling narcissist who suggests you do and be as they do. Life can be marvellous, but life also has this sadistic propensity to serve up double helpings of tough shit, whether it be just or not, because life has all the conscience of Hitler's lost bollock.

Point is, no, don't bother trying to learn to love yourself more and all such jargon. That'd make you a self help book, and they belong in the bin. Tolerate yourself, yes, by all means that is a must. Be comfortable with your own persona. Have a bit of common sense, soak up some fucking realism and laugh off all the stuff you don't like. That's a way to become more at ease with oneself, and life in general.

Hey, do that well and there's a chance you won't end up an embittered, cynical old fud. Or, indeed, a 'part time cunt'. Basically like a lot of the rest of us. But if you do, that is at least better than being a narcissist. Or a self help author.

Fuck off. The hardest realisation in life is that actually your problems and your own issues pale into complete insignificance compared to the shit hands other people have been dealt. I'm not saying you don't need to be comfortable in your own skin, but there's only one kind of self-love you need to practice and if you need a manual for that your in the wrong body...

I'm not sure how many of these responses to Joey are meant to be funny but he has it exactly right.  You must learn to love yourself first.  People who don't love themselves will never really be able to love and trust someone else and accept their love.  And no matter what anyone thinks, love is the most important thing in life.

OK folks, go ahead and rip me.  I can take it.

"learn to love yourself"

What does that mean, exactly?

I think whether you are discussing Running Injuries or Mental Wellbeing searching for diagnoses and solutions online is fraught with pitfalls.

We're death listers not a self help group.

In some ways Charon is right - we have no idea who Joey is, what his problems are and how mentally hinged or unhinged he is.

We do know that's he's pretty good at death listing though.:D

Joey if you want help with your personal problems I suggest there are better places to look for those solutions (online and offline).

Look for them on here and you are going to get the mix of responses that you regularly receive.

Best wishes

We know ourselves completely and that must include our faults because everyone has them.  We all have things we've said or done that we aren't proud of.  The first thing is we have to forgive ourselves for our faults and misdeeds.  That is not to say we should make excuses.  We should acknowledge our trespasses and forgive ourselves while striving to be better people.

Once you've done that, you can believe that you are deserving of someone else's love and give yours to others.  I know this sounds really corny but it is true nonetheless.

I heartily agree that this isn't the place to get life advice.  That being said, why not give a positive response to someone who is looking for advice or comfort?

But what if, while acknowledging one's faults, one does nothing about continuing them?

You can't get more positive than 'fuck off roey'......

Deadsox, I do think its a yank thing, all the ra ra ra shite from birth, flegs in school and ever after, its possibly a comfort blanket because of how the USA is viewed throughout the World.

"Gotta love yourself 'cos everybody else hates you".

Cunning marketing.

/

GUN, but we 'do' know a lot about him, a self confessed 18 year old (by one of his multiple birth dates he has had on here) Yankee schoolboy, who suffers from doubts, self worth etc etc, yet is a Bible basher with an encyclopedic knowledge of local papers/minor celebs in England.

Who uses a VPN to connect to here and pornhub.

He needs to grow the fuck up either way, whether going back to his normal account, or if a Yank child who's 'special' by killing his family, favourite band then himself.

* joke.

** favourite band would suffice.

I've not a second of my life for horse shit, and so I'm sorry my responses aren't the positive, self-actualisation coach, Mr Motivator, Yankee doodle mollycoddling, soapy titwank utterances you're after. Don't take this or any other of the firmer, less positive responses as deliberate, vitriolic slagging down, take it as tough love.

Self-pity from anyone wears thin if you're not a samaritan. I know it's not nice, not fair, I get that, and what you may or may not be going through is horrendous, but such is life. Stopping doing all that routine myself several years ago helped me enormously, primarily because that perception of me as a woe-is-me type stopped.

Need help? Go and get it. This site isn't help.

That doesn't sound right. Love YOURSELF, of all people? 7.6 billion killer apes on Earth, and you try to love your mirror image?  Why not love your kids / wife / husband / parents / cat or dog, or even better, wild animals. Squirrels etc. Perhaps turn vegan
