Does that make her the third of the five Trump was trying to get executed before he stepped (gracefully) down?

Four down now.

Just seen this front page on the BBC site - Charles Bronson is making a pop single! Guesting on a Lost Vegas track called Only Mad Men Crawl.

Oh aye, and...

Lee Rigby’s murderer is fighting for his life in hospital after getting COVID. Thoughts are with Diane Abbott & Jeremy Corbyn during this difficult time.

93 year old American lifer Francis Clifford Smith 'celebrates' 68 years behind bars today.  He only needs to manage another 245 days to beat Paul Geidel's record of being the longest incarcerated prisoner in the USA.

Francis Clifford Smith (born 1st September 1924) has been in prison for 70 years, 282 days for the murder of a nightwatchman during a yacht club robbery in July 1949. If he's still alive in 21 days, he'll break the record of "longest prison sentence served"

Currently this record is held by French Australian Charles Fossard (c. 1882-1974) who was in prison for 70 years and 303 days.

There are four other prisoners who have been in jail for over 60 years, all Americans:

John Phillips (born around 1933) since 1952

Walter H. Bourque Jr. (born ca. 1938) since 1955

Warren Nutter (born ca. 1938) since 1956

Kenneth Nicely (born ca. 1939) since 1958

Convicted serial child killer Joseph Duncan has glioblastoma and might not live long enough to die by his death sentence:

No UK coverage so far, but surely Daily Mail fodder. Terrible person all around, almost on Jeffrey Dahmer level.

Looks like Jeremy Bamber will finally get his conviction overturned. Only 35 years late.

I mean the guy is clearly a tit, but also there is no way he could have done it, given the evidence. That has been clear for ages.

Update: Francis Clifford Smith has now broken Fossard's record and has been in jail longer than anyone in history.

John Phillips was released on parole a week ago.

Just reading up on Francis Clifford Smith. Ridiculous that he was in prison for so long. The U.S. justice system is nuts. Interesting to note that he was moved to a care home last year, even though he’s technically still a prisoner. That would suggest he’s only got months left to live.

Serial killer Joseph Duncan III is dead at 58:

https://www.kxly.com/the-sun-is-a-little-brighter-today-serial-killer-joseph-duncan-is-dead/

It was recently revealed that he had glioblastoma and refused treatment. He was given 6-12 months to live and barely made the minimum.

Michael Hernandez, who as a 14-year-old carefully planned the cold-blooded murder of his best friend Jaime Gough by luring him into a school bathroom stall and slitting his throat, has died in prison. He was 31.
