The forum was always more than just about posting the deaths of people, it could never have survived and been viable for so long if it was just about Dead people! It was a place of fun, debate, banter and everything that you are not. Even some of the newer "established posters" nice enough as they are, are hopeless wordsmiths and lack any kind of personality that makes what they say and what they think interesting. You are a complete tool and are fucking up this place because twats like you encourage twats to come here in the same way that a fly eating a dog turd will surely attract other diners. Never mind "civil liberties" if the mods here had the balls they would bite the bullet and ban you for the greater good of mankind, or summat..... he's allready left the forum anyway u twat Mods, can we get an IP check on that last post? The vast majority will only be paying a fleeting visit, but a few will surely stick around and join our friendly, welcoming community. This forum did teeter on the brink at one point - during one weekend in 2010 nobody posted anything at all. Today's stats would indicate that the Deathlist is far from dead. Of course there will always be arguments around quality vs quantity of posts, but I for one am happy to see this forum thriving; we are also currently breaking records in site traffic on a daily basis. 2016 may have been a bad year for death (or a good year, depending on your point of view), but it has certainly hasn't done DL any harm. 2017 will bring new uncertainties for us all. That new axis of evil: Putin, Trump, ISIS and Teresa May may well contribute towards their subjects/victims developing a blacker sense of humour, which can only bode well for this site's prospects, regardless of the celebrity death toll. Merry Christmas :-) DDT I do like this place a lot actually. While not everyone likes me (and I know I made some bad posts as well), this is a great place. It helps me improve my knowledge on culture. Like I said in the DDP 2016 thread, I stumbled on here sometime after the death of Prince, and I became a member after the death of Muhammad Ali. But I learn interesting things from not only the big celebrities. While researching the DDP, which I do believe that I have a good shot at the top 20, I learned interesting things from those celebrities I find off the forum as well. Because you can learn so much about life, culture, people, history -just a wide range of lots and lots of topics. Especially if you make yourself read the obituary or information on somebody who you hadn't really heard of rather than just reading about the famous or notable people you like and are interested in. Often on Wikipedia looking through the profiles of the recently deceased has been a way of leapfrogging onto other new subjects and spheres I know little about. It can be a real exercise in broadening the mind. I like reading obituaries etc basically not because I'm morbid and love the subject of death but actually because I love and I'm interested in life and people. It's the life affirming aspect of it that draws me in. Not sure If I've articulated that as best I could but I think most of us on here are like that and on that spectrum rather than being just morbid souls interested in people dying! 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
