James Garner, a veteran actor, has been hospitalized after what is described to be a 'minor' stroke. Didn't Aaron Spelling also have a minor stroke? This post kicks off the very home of all further hospitalizations to be reported on www.deathlist.net.

James Garner, of The Rockford Files fame, has been in a wheelchair since suffering a stroke last year.

I like the guy, he's one of my favorite actors, but I'm afraid he's probably got another year or two to live. I've read that he's been struggling since and his health continues to decline. I would definitely put him in as a strong DL candidate for 2010.

The James Garner thread

I like this pick a little. He looks rough. A series of strokes never works out well.

My grandfather always watched James Garner back when he was in Maverick. He would sit back with a scotch and say ..

You know .. all those people are dead.

I would reply: No, Garner isn't.

Could be on the money with Jim Garner - looked again at his numbers and I had missed his stroke and wheelchair use - along with the smoking and quint by-pass I did know about - puts him about 60th on my big list.

Garner has had health issues for years. Even back in the 80s when he did a television interview with Barbie Walters he had been through the mill. He has had dozens of broken bones from doing his own stunts and apparently even was hit by a bullet or 2 while serving in Korea.

He's nowhere near to dead yet.

James Garner used to do ads for the beef industry, this is probably what will kill him before he turns 90.

Beef!!!? Thanks for the tip. He's going on next year's theme team.

"Louis Gossett Jr. was just on a local Memphis talk radio station promoting the movie "The Grace Card." A local caller asked him about working on "The Rockford Files" and Mr. Gossett said that his close friend James Garner was "on his way out of here." That he had gone and said his goodbyes to Mr. Garner and that he was very ill"

James's older brother Jack has died aged 84. This of course has no direct correlation to Jim's prognosis.

I feel it needed to repeat what I said at the earlier time.

While he is aging, he is well past that dreadful devastation of a stroke and much like Kirk Douglas will be around a long time yet. He was born in Norman Oklahoma and the people from there are known to live long lives......not always the healthiest but long. I think those years of him advertising for the beef industry may have caused some of his continuing health woes.
