It's not all bad news on this thread. The well-lit but essentially dull Ready Steady Cook is soon to be toast.

Death where is thy sting?

Yes? Oh, sorry, I thought you called me.

Ready Steady Cook, eh. My cousin's missus went on that once.

I love the "inane" sley Harriott quote "It came along at a time when we were still a bit naive about cooking in this country"

You're either naive or bonkers if you think you're qualified to judge other people while still dishing up Cuppa Soups and other processed crap that you just add boiling water to.

Henryk Gorecki

The Polish composer, whose Symphony No.3, "Symphony of Sorrowful Songs" made the Pop Charts in 1992, has died aged 76.

Who's death prompts BBC Four to conveniently drop a documentary on Diana's infamous Panorama interview...

I checked back through my emails and the two Di programmes were dropped last Thursday morning, two days after the wedding announcement. So your conspiracy theory may well hold water, if that's what you meant.

Iconic Canadian painter, Doris McCarthy, has died at the age of 100. Apparently she only lived about 10 minutes away from my boyfriend's house.

Oscar-nominated Italian director Mario Monicelli has killed himself by jumping from the 5th floor window of a hospital where he was being treated. Quite a feat for a 95 year old!

"Monicelli was widely considered the 'father' of the so-called Comedia all'italiana (Comedy Italian style) school of cinema which specialised in bitter-sweet story lines ... Monicelli won the Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion top prize for 1959's La Grande Guerra which was also nominated for an Academy Award."

a suicide like this is hardly tragic, he was 95 and therefore gonna die soon anyway.

So by those standards, if a child of 12 with cancer is 'gonna die soon anyway' it won't be tragic if they jump to their deaths from a 5th storey window?

It might be...if they land on an innocent bystander, or the doctor runs through the door a few seconds too late screaming: 'Apologies, we mixed your notes up with the other kid!'

Yes that would be tragic, it's always tragic if a 12 yr old kid dies. A 95 year old man, not so much.
