Does anyone know where i can get a copy of Rolf rules ok.

I have tried Ebay and there is someone selling it in the UK. How ever they refused to sell it to anyone outside the UK.

Can some one tell me why this album was deleted in the first place.

With due respect to the considerable knowledge displayed in these threads, this isn't family favourites. What we need to know about is when Rolf is going to be deleted. Got any low down on that?

Nah, ol' Rolf did a cover version of it, but he apparently didn't write it/

Okay, I've been believing an urban legend for a very loooooong time. :(

Perhaps I was Ina Gadda Da Vida?

In a gadda da vida - memorably subverted by Bart in a Simpsons episode.

Are you saying that Rolf wrote that as well.

Most of the threads this pm seem to have been influenced by Dali - having trouble keeping up.

Nope, but I did see him around the corner from Covent Garden this weekend, flogging pictures of the Queen.

Least I think it was Rolf.

You might want to try www.netsoundsmusic.com or alternatively see if they have a copy for sale still on his website

I believe he's also recorded a version of Walk on The Wild Side which I would love to hear. Is that wrong?

That's correct, there is a version of Walk On The Wild Side on that album.

He's done a number of cover versions, along with "I Feel Good", "Bad Moon Rising" ,"Great Balls of Fire" , "Roadhouse Blues" , "Honky Tonk Women" , "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" and also "Wild Thing"

He does a good version of Alanis Morissette's "One Hand In My Pocket" on his album "Can You Tell What It Is Yet?"

Nowt hilarious about Carlisle United; ask the rest of League Two, most of whom regret the day(s) they faced us this year.

Well, it appears the Queen has forgiven him for his painting of her as he's got a CBE in the Honours List....

Not much of a 'promotion' though - an OBE to a CBE. Looks like he's never going to get that knighthood.

Is he even a British citizen?

If not, then can't he please be deported. Give me illegal immigrant criminals anyday.

well, of course he didn't write Stairway (Page/Plant, duh), but check out this interesting nugget on a track he did:

Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport

Rolf wrote this in 1957, inspired by Harry Belafonte's calypsos. The song was number 1 for about four weeks in Australia in 1960; this version was re-recorded in England in 1962. Apparently, the verse marked * caused offence (leading to the song being banned in Singapore), and was removed in later years.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Harris) Ardmore & Beechwood Ltd / EMI (P) 1963

Arr. Johnnie Spence - Produced by George Martin

[spoken:]

There's an old Australian stockman, lying, dying,

and he gets himself up on one elbow,

and he turns to his mates,

who are gathered 'round him and he says:

Watch me wallabys feed mate.

Watch me wallabys feed.

They're a dangerous breed mate.

So watch me wallabys feed.

Altogether now!

Tie me kangaroo down sport,

tie me kangaroo down.

Tie me kangaroo down sport,

tie me kangaroo down.

Keep me cockatoo cool, Curl,

keep me cockatoo cool.

Don't go acting the fool, Curl,

just keep me cockatoo cool.

Altogether now!

Take me koala back, Jack,

take me koala back.

He lives somewhere out on the track, Mac,

so take me koala back.

Altogether now!

Let me Abos go loose, Lou, *

let me Abos go loose.

They're of no further use, Lou,

so let me Abos go loose.

Altogether now!

Mind me platypus duck, Bill,

mind me platypus duck.

Don't let him go running amok, Bill,

mind me platypus duck.

Altogether now!

Play your digeridoo, Blue,

play your digeridoo.

Keep playing 'til I shoot thro' Blue,

play your digerydoo.

Altogether now!

Tan me hide when I'm dead, Fred,

tan me hide when I'm dead.

So we tanned his hide when he died Clyde,

(Spoken) And that's it hanging on the shed.

Altogether now!

a true Australian hero. Maybe when PW Botha goes his DL title of "racist" can pass to the Rolfster.

Rolfy's been jumping out of frying pans into fires recently. Time to tie your tongue down, sport.

Always did feel a bit uneasy about that Jake the Peg

Hmm, not one I'd have thought an obvious candidate. I was talking to a journo mate who'd done some stringer work for the nationals of late and found himself involved in collating some research on a few showbiz figures in the Savile frame. He dropped a few names, none of which was Rolf Harris.
