She's in an old folks home and frail but mentally alert as she is writing her autobiography. But that info is several months old now.

Question.

Who's Kay Walsh?

This link should help. She is an actress, although I have to admit the name didn't ring any bells with me either, and had to search to find out who she is.

For the record, she was 90 back in August.

Strangely enough, she's my great-aunt, and I fully expect her to out-live me. She's a tough old bird.

Edit: No, that's not right. She's my grandfather's first cousin. So, whatever that works out to be.

She was David Lean's (One of the greatest UK film directors of all time) former wife and George Formby's leading lady on occasions. Formby was the biggest grossing star 1937/38, earning more than Errol Flynn or Bette Davis, strange as it may now seem! So she kind of has a hold on ancient fame! However, I guess that comes with territory on this site!

I guarantee she'll get broadsheet obits.

She was an actress in the 30's-50's ish, lol. One thing I do know for sure about Kay Walsh is that she played Nancy Sykes in Oliver Twist. (A play in which my school will be putting on) And I'm thinking about auditiong for her, So that is one thing I do know for sure about her.

I was very sad to hear that the actress Kay Walsh has died. She was talented and hard-working actress. I treasure the DVDs and Videos I have that feature her. I hope that her memoirs, that I believe she was working on, will now still be published.

I to wish I known where her funeral was and when. I imagine it was possibly a few days after the day she died (she died on 16th April). But no details of her funeral have been published anywhere, that I could find.

I have just read the entry added by a carer who until recently worked at the home that Ms Walsh lived at. Would the staff at the home where Kay lived be able to give you any details about the funeral? And did you actually look after Kay, during your time there? It sounds as if you did. I just hope that her final days and years there were nice and peaceful.

I believe Kay adopted a daughter, and I wondered whether she was still alive.

If anyone knows anymore about this late, great actress I'd love to read it here.

RIP, Kay Walsh.

I see her IMDB entry (Kay Walsh) has her down as

Sometimes Credited As:

Grace Stansfield

which is surely an error as this was the real name of! Gracie Fields!

Her Times obituary which appeared last week gave her birth name as Kathleen Walsh.

Kay Walsh was in the same hospital my grandmother was in, around september-october 2003. Or at least this person professed to being Kay Walsh, had the voice, age, and presence of Kay Walsh. She was not all together with it, and asked my mother where the Ritz was, and whether we'd want to star in her new film..

I am a big fan of Kay and was very sad to hear she died just a week before Sir John Mills.Anybody know when her book will be coming out and if she finished it? Where did she live?

I think she was lovely and she should have been mentioned on the news as i only just found out she passed away in a tv guide.

Bah! I've just got back from a long stint abroad to learn the Kay Walsh has died. I had very good info on her imminent demise and suggested her on my list of candidates for 2005. I have just checked and she had an obit in all the broadsheets due to her marriage to David Lean and her leading lady status to George Formby. This was a real missed opportunity gentlemen, especially in this relatively barren year so far.

;)

Oh, how unoriginal.

Many have threatened, few have tried, none have succeeded.

Can't you spice it up a little with the promise of some illegal action we could look forward to instead?

(And don't shout next time.)

Have any actually tried 'legal action'?

Let me consult my detailed legal notes.

I can't answer that for so many reasons. (None of which are anything to do with lawyers.) ;)

Would the primary reason for not answering be that you aren't interested?

Good God, I hope not...she died last year. Although I suppose having a few rotting cadavers around may hasten the demise of Messers O'Sullivan and Freeman.
