We all knew it was coming, but a very sad loss nevertheless.

Aye, same.  One of the giants of music.

Still think she could have been on the list this year.

Also, let's not forget her role in 2 WrestleManias. :)

Moralism. They were on heavy drugs when they said that and sounded like Iraqi Comical Ali. If they (her nephew) had shut up before I would not laugh at them. Anyway no one should disrespect a dead person, that's not what I'm doing.

Inevitable, but still sad.

Stephen Hawking has competition now.

Hmmm - might take a game of rock, scissors, paper, lizard, Spock to decide that one.

The Queen of Pop is getting 60, the Queen of Soul dies.

Should I celebrate or mourn?

Sad day.   She gave cancer a run for its money though.

Who knew it would be in this order. As if David Bowie had died before Bing Crosby.

Another hit, for me. Wow, it's only August, and I have 14 hits already. That's good, for me.

Noticed in the BBC article that they said she had the neuroendocrine type of pancreatic cancer. Def gives credence to the pancan rumors from eight years ago and explains how she lasted such a long time since that type of pancan is much more of a slow burner.

Queen and the King dead on the same day...

I've been browsing and it turns out more royalty deaths on this day!

1948: The Sultan of Swath, Babe Ruth

1997: The Emperor of Qawwali, Nusrat Ali Fateh Kahn

1938: King of the Delta Blues: Robert Johnson

Big year for major music deaths. Dolores O'Riordan, Avicii, Danny Kirwan, XXXTentacion, now Aretha Franklin - wide variety of genres, of course.

RIP to the Queen of Soul. Aretha was literally living history, from her friendship with Martin Luther King, to singing at Obama's inauguration.
