For those of us not familiar with Big George's radio career, he was also a composer, with probably his most famous piece being "Have I Got News For You".

For those of us not familiar with Big George's radio career, he was also a composer, with probably his most famous piece being "Have I Got News For You".

I never listened to him myself but listening to BBC London now theyre doing a special tribute phone in to him and everyone are in tears so he was obviously a very popular guy.It's always sad when someone goes so suddenly and prematurely

Bernard Greenhouse

 

The cellist and founding member of the Beaux Arts Trio has died aged 95, leaving pianist Menahem Pressler (b 1923) as the sole survivor. Greenhouse played with the Beaux Arts for 32 years before retiring in 1987.

Prolific actor Edward Hardwicke, who played Watson to Jeremy Brett's Holmes in the 80s TV series and stooge son-in-law to Sir Clive D in 70s sitcom My Old Man, amongst much other luvvieness.

Powerhitting hall of fame baseball player Harmon Killebrew has died of esophaegal cancer at the age of 74.
