Bollywood Stars

Recommended Posts

Being as the Metro still carries an Indian entertainment gossip column, I suppose any big name player from the world of AZN cinema is in play, so fuck it, let's have a thread for them, especially with "the first Bollywood superstar" Shammi Kapoor currently on his 24th day in hospital for "age-related complications", and his younger brother Shashi Kapoor too weak to collect a lifetime achievement award earlier this year.

Maybe also use this thread to reminisce about the very brief period where this board got excited about Lisa Ray before she turned out to be perfectly fine.

Shashi Kapoor is the one has been in hospital since mid-December, that's why he's on my DDP this year. Unless they both have of course.

Kapoor Jr has also been confined to a wheelchair since March and Bachchan was "crying over Shashi Kappor's" condition" when he left hospital.

So either Kapoor has terminal cancer (my guess) or he's fine. For all I know Bachchan will drop first.

Mind you, I picked Savvas Andrea on the basis of celebrity tabloid pap and looked how that turned out... :shoot2:

Shashi Kappor is now fighting for his life and critically ill according to various Indian media sites.

Maybe a first DDP hit is just around the corner....

It would be interesting, considering how much low-hanging fruit I missed this season. I'm a little worried, since I haven't seen any mention in a proper DDP source, but considering all the other people who got obits, it's probably nothing to lose sleep over.

Shammi Kapoor

The Bollywood actor and director, sometimes called "the Elvis Presley of India", has died aged 79. He belonged to the Kapoor acting dynasty. Of 3 famous brothers (himself, Raj and Shashi) only Shahshi now survives.

Bollywood's Manisha Koirala is diagnosed with cancer

http://www.bbc.co.uk...-india-20624132

Bugger, was hoping that'd stay on the Bollywood gossip blogs and not make it to wider promenance.

It's early stage though isn't it? I can't imagine she'll die next year

So was I. Not that I expect her to die in 2013, but it's one of those nice picks for lots of points, especially as a unique pick.

Hein

The Government of India has announced the winner of some Bollywood award for this year. Pran, aged 93, could become possible fodder in the coming years.

Pran's a unique DDP pick for me this year, and from what I can understand from Bollywood websites, he still hasn't left the hospital he was admitted to in late November. With any luck this is the Indian government bunging him the first award available before he carks it.

Apologies. I had no idea he was ill nor on your list. Best of luck to you and not to him (I guess). They are probably scrambling to award him something pre-death, you're right.
