Curse Of The Eurovision

Interesting that she was a replacement for the singer of the winning entry nationally.

Laila Halme was one of four entries to pick up zero points in the contest, with Muistojeni Laulu. I think they had forgotten the 1940s had ended some time ago:

Watching the Eurovision special on the BBC right now. Didn’t realise that Switzerland had a 95 year old represent them in 2013.

Emil Ramsauer of group Takasa.

Anyway, he’s still alive. Turned 102 in Feb!

Emil Ramsauer being reported dead aged 103: https://wiwibloggs.com/2021/12/23/emil-ramsauer-takasa-eurovision-2013-dies-103/268051/

Here the group are in the second semi final, from which they failed to qualify for the Grand Final:

I think we can all agree that participating nations should be limited to strictly EU members

I don’t.

Who the fuck actually cares if Israel or Azerbaijan or Australia join in?

As long as North America leaves it the fuck alone, it’s fine.

Eurovision is nothing to do with the European Union nor the geographical region of Europe but is for international broadcasters affiliated to the European Broadcasters Association. Israel is a fully paid up member. Australia was invited to take part for the 60th contest and have stayed ever since. Still leaving the horrific prospect of what would happen if they ever won

They would pay a European broadcaster.to host it for the,.  When it looked like they might win a few years ago that was reported to be the German one.

Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries openly snickering as she announces Russian ban from Eurovision in the Commons. I'll say again, the gravitas of the front bench is shite.

Listen love, should have ironed that blouse you obviously slept in last night. ;)

I have had the dubious pleasure of watching the first "American Song Contest"

Fifty states competing, which was introduced as, "the first in the WORLD to feature original songs!"

Fuck. Off. America.

Thirty minutes in, Amerivision gave a very brief mention of Eurovision

Breathtaking audacity!

Quite a few people would like a word, no?

Weird glitch, but double Abba!

Song of 2022 for me is Italy. I think it is probably not possible for them to win twice in a row, but hey, their song is a cracker. Only one gave me the feels.

UK have drawn a direct line from Sgt Pepper through ELO, thrown in some Oasis and funked it up. Best position in years imo.

Ukraine will win, everyone else is playing for second this year. The UK are 4th favourites with the bookies apparently!

A lot of Ukranian's are in Poland and Hungary and other border countries that can vote for Ukraine. So there's that as well.

Also, for future Eurovision-related lists Jari Sillanpää, Finland's 2004 participant (Takes 2 to Tango) could be a good pick soon. He has had problems with meth, alcohol and everything AND was on trial last year as he had a pornographic video where a very young child was sexually abused on his computer.

Rumored to have travelled to Thailand multiple times a year before covid, sex tourism involving children.

https://www.is.fi/viihde/art-2000008798361.html

Jari Sillanpää now in a wheelchair with arthritis, "unable to walk longer distances"

Going to have a hip replacement surgery soon.

Stunned, the UK song is actually decent! Also at least its not a fucking sombre ballad like half of them.

Nice to see The Rasmus making some of us feel really old!

Ukraine will walk this, for sure.

Sam did all he could. I'd have voted for him if I could. The parents voted Moldova.
