Hope she's ok, loved Satellite.

That’s where we differ. I thought Satellite was the weakest winner of the last 20 years.

Had an okay melody but the lyrics are a total joke. An intelligent 10 year old could write a better song than this:

I went everywhere for you
I even did my hair for you
I bought new underwear, they're blue
And I wore 'em just the other day

I even painted my toenails for you
I did it just the other day“

That's *why* I loved it! It's silly, it's playful, it bops and was catchy. Add in the fairly awful mockney accent and I have a real soft spot for Lena.

Goran Fristorp of the band Malta which competed at the 1973 Eurovision for Sweden and came 5th with You're Summer, reportedly dead: https://eurovoix.com/2024/09/03/sweden-eurovision-1973-participant-goran-fristorp-has-died/

They had to perform under the name Nova to avoid confusion with the country Malta.

Thanks so much.

Martin Lee is a DDP pick.

Additionally, as if anyone needed reminding, first to perform and winning the competition is some achievement.

Sad news. I’m surprised it was him first, to be frank. When BOM retired a few years ago, I assumed it was down to Lee Sheriden as he seemed frail.

Hans van Hemert (72), who wrote and produced all LUV hits, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2006, after which he underwent surgery.

Last June he told that it has returned.

Hans van Hemert reportedly dead: https://www.shownieuws.nl/entertainment/bners/artikelen/luv-oprichter-hans-van-hemert-79-overleden

He wrote 3 top ten finishing songs for Netherlands. Als het om leifde gaat for Sandra and Andres in 1972 and The Party's Over for Sandra Reemer in 1976, but highest finisher was Mouth and MacNeal's I See A Star which finished third in 1974:

What a coincidence. Just this morning I was looking at my Dutch Shadow List and considered it a miracle he was still alive, as in July of last year he mentioned the treatment for his prostate cancer would give him 12 more months, if he was lucky.

Vicky Leandros, greek singer for Luxembourg, just had to cancel some concerts of her final tour:

https://m.bild.de/unterhaltung/stars-und-leute/vicky-leandros-muss-noch-ein-konzert-ihrer-abschiedstournee-absagen-67223490b54ff317ce96b138?t_ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F

BILD gives it the breaking news treatment, it's a "sudden illness" and she's in hospital.

Btw, it is unclear if she's 72 or 75. The german Wiki gives an age of 72, the english wiki up to 75.

I was also shocked to learn that her father Leo Leandros is still alive at age 101. He had previously been mentioned here once before by Ulitzer.
