Ulitzer95 12,654 Posted October 25, 2021 As this year marks the 50th anniversary of the start of "The Comedians", I decided to go full out and do deeper research across Facebook and Twitter. The incredibly popular "Old Clubland Acts" page on Facebook alone has proven very useful. So I've updated the masterlist (expand the spoiler below), adding years (or approx years) of birth to just about all names, some notes and uncovered two further deaths (which I've covered below). Also added some more names like Al Rich and Bal Moane. I don't think it will ever be possible to get a full list of the names who appeared on the show over it's 22 year broadcast, but I reckon this is almost complete. I've also merged Mike Goodwin and Mike Goddard as it's the same person(!). He mentions on Facebook that he changed his name to avoid confusion with Ken Goodwin, who was also on the show. So, the two further deaths: 1) Brian Lewis – also one of The Muscles on Super Gran, along with Alan Snell (1938–2018). His daughter talks about him a lot on several groups on Facebook, noting he's dead but doesn't state when. 2) Jerry Harris – not exactly an obscure name on the show, but I suppose he just dropped off radar. He moved to Malta with his wife. In 2010 he was noted as being alive recently, in 2012 he was noted as having died "a few years ago", so seems likely he died just over a decade ago. Kudos to anyone who can find any info for Mike Scott, Dennis Jones, Johnny Allan or Paddy Cassidy, because it's annoying me. 2

Ulitzer95 12,654 Posted November 19, 2021 Janey Godley always was a bit of a poisonous cunt. Still, wouldn't wish anyone ill with cancer. I hope she lives so she can continue to make a total arse of the nationalist movement in Scotland. Also enjoying that someone on the left who too often plays the faux offence card in everything is having a taste of her own medicine by the fact that tweet archaeologists seem to have uncovered a lot of her historical racist quips. Ulitzer95 12,654 Posted November 19, 2021 14 minutes ago, TQR said: Irrelevant. It's not. Packaged faux offence taking is a common practice of people on the new left (liberal types), and calling everything "racist/homophobic/Islamophobic/xenophobic/misogynistic" etc. Granted, it doesn't apply to the whole of the left. For example, in the UK the Old Labour left types think the woke brigade are an embarrassment and are discrediting their cause. They're not wrong – we've had 4 consecutive conservative electoral victories in this country, and not one Labour leader who wasn't branded as metropolitan bubble focussed and out of touch. Anyway, I digress. Ms. Godley is an odd person. She seems to politically travel where there's a bandwagon to jump on, likely because it allows her to financially exploit it in her so called "comedy". She would ofc like everyone to forget that she was once a member of the Conservative Party and was very fond of Mrs. Thatcher, even meeting her at two Tory Party conferences. I also think she's a fantasist. I wouldn't write this off as another Ryan Buell situation.

Just serving a reminder that “left” and “woke” are not negative traits, and the practice you speak of, common though it may be with the left, is a matter of morals rather than political alignment. Of course, one can often influence the other, but it’s really quite self-defeating (not to mention conflict-stoking) for one to use “left” (as it is “right”) as a qualifier for one’s dislike of someone. Sure, this is coming from someone often seen in the PDR thread trashing the shit out of people on the right, but it’s never because they’re right-wing, it’s because they’re nasty cunts. Correlation is not causation and all that.

Salmon Mousse 473 Posted January 3, 2022 Standup comedian and former Man Show writer Andy Andrist apparently announced back on Dec 22 that he has bile duct cancer that's taking up some residency in his pancreas. Andrist is probably best know for being Doug Stanhope's friend and made the announcement on the great man's podcast. As a huge Stanhope fan, a somewhat big name over at his deathpool site, and a patreon supporter of the very podcast it was announced on I'm certainly kicking myself for not noticing this a lot sooner. Highly recommend Doug Stanhope's The Unbookables, which features Andrist (as well as the late Sean Rouse) heavy, to anyone with a dark sense of humor (which, I imagine, is most on a death pool forum).
