And I thought she's wasting away in a retirement home.

She actually lives there permanently.

Jean-Louis Trintignant will celebrate his 88th birthday on tuesday reciting poetry on stage.

Michel Piccoli, however, who will celebrate his 93th birthday on december 27, has led a secluded life during the last years.

I was not able to find recent photos/videos/interviews.

He may possibly go before Trintignant.

All these interviewers ask him how he feels about his daughter's murderer being a charting musician in 2018 as if nowt happened. How do they think he feels FFS?

Anyhow, Trintignant is a fine actor and will likely be on my 2019 DDP team.

Piccoli is older than Trintignant and I didn't know that the latter planned to be on stage

here is a link for a video of Trintignant speaking about the death of his daughter in 2003. He seems frailer than ever, doesn’t he ?

English translation of that interview from a different media outfit with appropriately gloomy end:

Explains how she has lasted nearly two decades. Some other forms of dementia are slower than alzheimers in progression. The end result of all forms of dementia are the same though.

Not sure where to put this, so it goes here.  Dwijen Mukhopadhyay died a few days ago.  Had him on my list to check for potential inclusion.  Guess not.

Governor of the Swaida Amer al-Ashi expressed condolences over the death of former minister Gado Ezzeddin (34 scrabble points for those keeping score) in the era of unity between Syria and Egypt.

At the invitation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, al-Ashi presented condolences.

The Syrian minister died a few days ago in Cairo at the age of 92 years, where he joined the military college in the first batch after independence and joined the Salvation Army and participated in several battles in Palestine against the Israeli occupation.  He was appointed Minister of Presidential Affairs, then Minister of Public Works, then Minister of Local Government in the United Arab Republic. He left after the separation to Egypt and returned to Syria after the corrective movement and lived between Syria and Egypt until his death in the Nile.
