Didier Pain, a French actor with a long list of credits highlighted by his role as Oncle Jules in the acclaimed 1990 films 'My Father's Glory' and 'My Mother's Castle', has died.  He was 71.  Pain was also the uncle of actresses Vanessa Paradis and Alysson Paradis, the former having once been in a long-term relationship with actor Johnny Depp.

Stunned more people didn't pick him in this year's DDP, seemed like a slam dunk to me. RIP to a real one.

I just....never really considered him.... I could have imagined a latter half of the year death, but not so quick.

Let's hope they lower him into the grave carefully, otherwise it would be a downfall...

Tbh, his health didn’t seem that dire to me, though he certainly would’ve been a nice hit...

A bad year for great actors. First Albert Finney, now Bruno Ganz. He starred in Eric Rohmer's "La marquise d'O". One of my favorite films.

I wonder who will get the Iffland-Ring for the most significant and worthy actor of the German-speaking theatre now.

Back off.  It was a comment, not an obit.

We are allowed to discuss the deceased.  That's the point of a forum like this.

TPB also brought something new to the table there, as I was unaware of the Iffland Ring.

Maybe Christoph Waltz could be a  solid follower to get the Iffland-Ring...

Weirdo American Cuntessa , Carolee Schneemann dead at 79.

Hard to categorise the whacko artist but suffice to say that she once pulled a scroll from her vagina as her party trick.

* Thankfully this was in 1975 and not recently.
