Obscure indeed - Alvis Wayne died back on July 31st and only got a mention via funeral home.

He was proud of his rockabilly roots.

Big Bopper Jr. Update-

I spent time in Houston today and had the chance to visit with Jay Richardson, aka Big Bopper Jr.

Guys, Jay is in real need of a lot of prayer. He continues to fight the good fight, so to speak, but it is a long battle and our friend is weary.

Jay told me to say hello to everyone and that he really does appreciate the prayers that have been sent his way. He said, "Keep'em coming!"....I hope that you will consider putting his family in your prayers too. They have been there for Jay, day and night, taking turns at the hospital with him while keeping up their own family responsibilities. Please pray for their continued strength as well. Thank you.

I will update you as information is made available to me.

Peace,

Randy Steele

Couple of minor rockabilly deaths this week - Mac Curtis and Marvin Rainwater. You don't really want links, do you?

Marvin Rainwater. The only way that guy could sound any more country is if his name was Cletus McMethteeth

And despite this he still scored a UK no.1 in the 50s with his song "Whole Lotta Woman"!

Joe Mauldin Bassist for Buddy Holly and The Crickets is dead at 74

That leaves drummer Jerry Allison as the last remaining original member of The Crickets.

I would have said no chance at all of a UK obit, but his (rather small) Wikipedia page gives us the faintest of hopes

I suffer from a love of music and I don't demand those singles.

Obit chances marginal Last Word chances nil, IMHO

Chap died in 2013? Also, you're right, he didn't get an obit.

His rather small Wikipedia page also says he died in 2013?

Edit: Probably some forum error...

I tried looking for this thread last week.

Jerry Lee Lewis turned 82 last Saturday and performed on stage with his sister Linda Gail, and his niece, Annie Marie.

Jerry Lee Lewis is scheduled to play at the 21st anniversary of the Viva Las Vegas rockabilly weekend in April 2018.

He's on the same bill as Duane Eddy.

Some others to keep a long-term eye on are Buddy Holly's wife, Maria Elena Holly (born 1932), his drummer's wife, Peggy Sue Gerron, (hence the name of the famous song) and Donna Fox (nee Ludwig) who was Ritchie Valens' girlfriend (and after whom that other famous song was named.) I don't have health info on any of them, though.

Given that even the Lucy of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" managed to score a UK obit, then surely these women will.

JLL must be fairly strapped for cash as there's GoFundMe page set up to raise money for his wife's birthday present

Well, to be fair, the page has been set up by his 'fans' who are, obviously, fucking stupid.

Both wasted picks then for next year.  They aren't ill in the least, and age is only how you feel.  They feel all young and squishy.
