themaninblack 2,112 Posted August 26, 2012 The most recent update features a picture of Buzz Aldrin, not Neil Armstrong. Armstrong is the astronaut in the helmet's reflection. Damn lying Google! Yes, I wondered after seeing a picture of Armstrong on the BBC saying he held the camera most of the time on the moons surface. I know what to replace it with.. Guest DeadPool fan Posted August 30, 2012 Jonathan Frid's nephew has said he died in the early hours of April 14th, not Friday the13th. http://www2.macleans.../jonathan-frid/ That means he shouldn't get a Unlucky 13th bonus.

Octopus of Odstock 2,200 Posted September 3, 2012 (edited) Whilst going through a few possibilities for 2013, I checked up on one of my picks for 2012 - John McDowall, and much to my surprise, learnt he is dead, and died on the 3rd January this year - http://www.justgivin...ohn%20-McDowall (It is the same one as the two daughters are mentioned in the news report about his illness - http://www.dailymail...adly-enemy.html) So, whilst looking for UK obits - I've found an obituary notice in the Times - only a small one, but does that count? http://announcements...4&referrer=2282 Quite surprised, considering his recent high-profile Scotland Yard involvement, that he wasn't mentioned more. If it DOES count, I think that puts me 3rd. Shame I didn't notice earlier as the January end of month table would've looked better. If it DOES count, I think that puts me 3rd. Shame I didn't notice earlier as the January end of month table would've looked better. I suppose it does count but like you I'm very surprised this hasn't been publicised or at least a proper obit. The Daily Mail are bastards for that type of thing. They'll go on about someone dying of some disease, often a mother or unusually young, but when they actually kick the bucket, they don't follow it up, like it doesn't matter any more. In many ways that's more callous than we are. At least we give some notice. That's settled then, McDowell will have his obit, from the DDP!
Bibliogryphon 9,586 Posted September 20, 2012 You are probably going to think it a bit sad that I noticed this but the DOB for Ian Tough (the other Krankie) on the DDP page contains a typo it is 1947 not 1974. I will definitely enter next year.
Eesti 151 Posted September 20, 2012 Is the DDP webpage still safe to visit? ESET Smart Security - Alert Access denied ! Details: Web page: http://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/ Description: Access to the web page was blocked by ESET Smart Security. The web page is on the list of websites with potentially dangerous content. This is the reason why I ask.
Paul Bearer 6,102 Posted September 20, 2012 Yes, its safe. Who are ESET?
the_engineer 1,415 Posted September 21, 2012 Yes, its safe. Who are ESET? Its like a virus protection software. They run websites though their filter and block it if they think something is wrong. Chances are ddp website isn't on one of their internal lists so blocked it. AVG is similar too.
themaninblack 2,112 Posted September 22, 2012 You can have either three normal teams, three theme teams, one theme team and two normal teams or one normal team and two theme teams... As there are likely to be more theme teams than ever before, is there any chance of a separate scoreboard for them? That's all I'm entering and I'd much rather see myself up there in 43rd than down there in 443rd. What, like this? Yes. Exactly like that, without the SFA font. Mea culpa, mea caecus. Actually, the font is a swipe from the Human League I was watching the "Being: Liverpool" documentary series on Channel 5 last night and immediately after came the inspiration for the DDP, "The Dead Pool", starring Clint Eastwood. By sheer coincidence, the typeface used in the opening the titles is the same the one I use for the DDP masthead! Amazing...
Bert Trautmann 58 Posted September 26, 2012 I've got someone in mind for next year's DDP, except I don't know their name (their first name at least)...I take it I would need to find their full name for them to be eligible? Cheers.

Sportsman's mother-in-law (but his wife is famous too) She's not in my 20 at the moment anyway, and I've got enough risky-obituary picks although with 3 months to go I might want to bring her in as a replacement (but I won't unless I find her blasted name)

Banshees Scream 110 Posted October 6, 2012 Obit for Sven Hassel I thought his "obit" came years ago, it must have been a name similar to his. (I'm recollecting) it must have been Studs Turkel. They both wrote books about war.
