Prince Philip Duke Of Edinburgh

There will be tears shed in the South Pacific Island of Tanna. Will Harry become their next God? Or Boris?

Cripes! Sad if not unexpected news. Genuinely sorry for The Queen.

State funeral I presume? And with lockdown ending I guess there'll be crowds. Actually, I can see people gathering round Buckingham Palace now - would the police really threaten to arrest them on such an occasion?

And good to see the DL servers have not crashed this time - they did when Thatcher died,

EDIT - FFS, just noticed I didn't have him in my DDP. Still, not many points...

Only 2 months shy of turning 100, just like fellow longtime DeathList name Zsa Zsa Gabor.

RIP.

(P.S.: Watch the guest count explode)

Zsa Zsa and Prince Phillip reunited in heaven if rumours of them having an affair are true. Zsa Zsa lived 12 days longer than Philip, Zsa Zsa lived for 36,475 days compared to Phillips 36,463 days.

More importantly, those lazy buggers milking furlough will be missing out on a day off for the funeral. So we can expect the Queen's face to look more like a bag of spanners than usual, especially as the "countdown" for her has just started.

Duke of Deadinburgh.

I genuinely thought he'd be cussed enough to make 100 and croak a few days later.

Reports are coming in claiming that the cause of death was heart failure. Will update if I find a source for this.

Absolutely! A great day to hand out thousands of £200 fines without having to travel very far. This overzealous lot need easy pickings to bolster their Xmas party fund and bonuses.

BBC woman all in black (obv. had time to sort that) and was almost in tears.

Not shocking, but as time went on, it felt like it would never happen!

More than likely if he was suffering from heart disease

So soon...

Well, you keep waiting for it, and are still surprised when it happens.

I'm glad I can rely on Deathlist to be a blazing party whenever someone huge dies!

RIP the Duke.  Really bad taste to call him a 'casual racist' - he was a man of his time and he took on board the attitudes of his time, right or wrong.

He has even made the headline on the BBC sports page!

We can look forward to a week of sombre music on the beeb.

Thank god for BT sports!

That'll now put her in pole position, perhaps another day off this year?

Interesting to note how the TV stations handle it. Bbc 1 and 2 have cut to BBC news (although obviously in that time where they can't get hold of their 'paid experts' yet, as they keep speaking to some unknown Royal reporter for a newspaper).

ITV cut to ITV news.

Channel 4 still showing Couples Come Dine with Me!

Channel 5 has gone for a programme about his life with a large black banner across the top of the screen announcing his death.

Think Martine's stunned she's the one who ended up on duty when it was announced. She must have a million things being yelled in her ear and it's all quite stunted. Was probably always going to be the case, though.

I've no idea what impact it will have on the Queen. It will, of course, be devastating to her, but it is not wholly unexpected, and I suspect it's been a managed decline over the fortnight or so he's been home from hospital, so she'll have been preparing for it. I wouldn't put any money on her going this year, fully expect another Christmas message from HM.

Oh, and of course Rest in Peace, Your Royal Highness. A life of service with an appropriately low-key end.

In his defence he offended everyone without fear or favour.

As I've said before, he took the piss out of everybody, he was an equal opportunities offender :D

I don't think he was a racist at all.  He and the Queen were meeting people from all nations, races, religions, you name it, they were probably more open-minded than the average white UK citizen back in the day.

RIP - we got over 70 years service out of him and unlike some others on here bore him no animosity.

Unlike lots of others  thought he was good for another year and think I failed to pick him anywhere...silly me.
