Yes - it’s all over Twitter, apparently.

In all seriousness, he had a stent fitted when he was 90 iirc.

I don't think so. It seems to have taken most of the correspondents by surprise.

EDIT: Looks like he had a procedure a decade ago, but by the looks of it, there hasn't been any major concerns since then.

Although tbf, Philip going from "precaution" to "an infection" to transferring to the nearest cardiac specialists is an actual update after 20 odd pages.

Okay, so he was unwell and went into hospital. And they checked him thoroughly, and I guess they found a thousand little health issues, not enough to kill him yet, but worrying. My guess is a bit of prostate cancer, maybe even some very early signs of bladder cancer returning, but also heart issues, and what not. After all, he is 99 years old. They'll be trying to fix him as good as they can, but then, people die. He might still Dilip Kumar/Sumner Redstone (I'm trying to turn them into verbs) for quite some time. But I think he'll never walk unaided again, might never appear on photos again. He's old and will not recover.

Well this was a very rude interruption to my argument on the validity or otherwise of the House of Mountbatten...

According to the ITV Royal Correspondent, it was the doorman.

Just saw the royal correspondant, Nicholas Witchell, read a statement out on the news.  He is quite close the the royal family, he didn't look too worried ......... yet

@The Old Crem –

1) Does your boss know that you just sit on your arse all day hitting the refresh button on your Twitter feed?

2) You do realise that when you post a tweet by a journo, and then post a subsequent 10 tweets which say the exact same thing albeit worded slightly differently, that it is no longer "news" and you're essentially just spamming.

No he isn’t. They think he’s a cunt.

Don’t get too excited about the attempts to shield him from the cameras. It’s probably something trivial like they moved him by wheelchair because he’s still a patient.

They seem to adverse to being seen in public looking frail. I seem to recall there was a hoo-ha about Princess Margaret being wheeled out for some occasion or other. Backstairs Billy got his collar felt.

Wonder how he'd look if he had to announce that Charles was at death's door?

I would tend to somewhat agree. This may take a lot out of him physically. All the same for a 99 year old up until the hospitalisation he looked tremendous from a physical point of view

He is still being treated for an infection several days after diagnosed so it is still there. The heart issues are probably exacerbated by the infection as his body tries to fight it.Looks like the beginning of the end.

Witchell used to be a main presenter back in the day, 6pm anchor no less. Now moved to the relative backwater of reporting on what is basically one specific item of entertainment news.

There'll be a reason for that.

The best bit about that time the cameras caught Charles telling his sons Witchell was a dreadful man (apart from, you know, go on Charlie) was it being reported on the BBC, and all these newsreader desperately trying to keep a straight face. It was very clear that the Prince was not alone in his view!

Well, that was a fun 3 pages to read. Saw this on the 1 O'Clock News. My reading is that this is clearly a secondary issue, as if the original concern was his heart, he would have been taken straight to Barts. Presumably either the infection or the treatment has caused something else to flare up, which now needs attention and they're not taking any chances. Hard to say how he is, but I know that I learned absolutely nothing from the past 3 pages on here.

Oh, speaking of which, (and I know @Ulitzer95 has already made this point), this:

Is not an update. It simply regurgitates exactly what you'd posted in the previous 20 tweets, pretty much word for word. An update includes new information. But you already know that.

Pretty sure that the Duke is suffering from advanced heart failure - it's common for the very elderly and not a surprise.  I think it's odds-on that he will leave this world at some point in 2021, but you never know.  Heart failure used to be fatal within a short time but with modern drugs people can survive for many years, depending on the severity.  My feeling is that the Duke's condition started over 10 years ago and has become progressively worse in the recent period.

Must be very serious if they choose to swap a plush private hospital for an NHS one
