I'd rather try my luck with her own series, like "Diana" (1972-73) or "Mrs. Bradley" (1998-2000).

She made also tv-remakes of "Witness for the prosecution" & "Rebecca" that weren't too bad & I liked two of her movies: Agatha

Christie's "Evil under the sun" & "Theatre of Blood" with Vincent Price.

For me I like The Assassination Bureau and her turn as Lady Deadlock in Bleak House neither of which tend to get mentioned in her obits.

To be fair she was an old looking 82 year old compared to a lot of old people so maybe it shouldn't come as a complete shock  but I still assumed she had a few good years in her yet!

P.S given the no of posts today should we create a Diana Rigg thread?

Any idea how Linda Thorson is and what chance there is of a 2020 Avengers hattrick? I suppose Joanna Lumley would qualify as well.

Just read that Diana Rigg smoked 20 cigarettes a day from 1956 until 2017!! She had to quit after it led to her needing emergency heart surgery that year.

Still, that's nearly half a million cigarettes. I'm surprised she lived to 82!

In saying that, I'm aware that Glenda Jackson, or "Fag Ash Glenda" as the Tory backbenchers affectionately called her, still breathes at 84.

Maybe a strong DL prospect for 2021?

Looks in decent health atm.

June Brown is a heavy smoker  and still breathing at 93.

This is true I suppose.

There is an scientific explanation behind this I read somewhere. Heavy smoking affects the health of 9/10 significantly. There exists a minority who can withstand it without major implications to their health long-term.

I suppose some could just be very lucky too.

Any smokers on DL? I smoked for over 12 years. Impacted my health A LOT by my mid 20s but managed to kick the habit early enough to reverse the effects.

Worth mentioning that the original choice for Mrs Emma Peel and swiftly dumped allowing Rigg to take over, Elizabeth Shepherd, is still alive. Was married to the late John Ringham.

Yeah, they filmed an episode but apparently she had no screen chemistry with Patrick Macnee at all. Which didn't stop them casting Linda Thorson who had chemistry with nobody, of course.

Whereas Macnee and Rigg... there was  TV interview with the two of them years and years ago, and the interviewer asked if they thought Steed and Peel were lovers. "Yes" said a smirking Macnee and "No" said Rigg at the exact same time before both laughed. What a pair!

Well enough to give interviews yesterday to Pay tribute to her predecessor.

Yes, me.

I gave up in 2014 when my dad died and I started again earlier this year.

I will have to give up again.

How did you end up starting again after all that time?

I gave up 18 months ago because it was just too expensive.

Apart from the financial aspect, I haven't felt any benefit whatsoever.

Have your significant other or any close acquaintances not observed that you no longer taste like an ashtray?

Most of the vaporisers I used were rubbish. The water vapor irritates the back of your throat if you're not used to it.

I thoroughly recommend IQOS. Nothing on the market like it at all. It actually creates the same sensation as smoking a cigarette without many of the toxins.

I stopped smoking 8 years ago after 16-17 years of smoking.

My sense of taste has not improved significantly, but my sense of smell has. Unfortunately, this is the worse choice if you have to take trains to work ... in summer ... when the air conditioning fails ... at all ... people stink!

But all in all it's good not to smoke anymore!

I'm a frequent smoker myself, plus I often find myself chainsmoking these days too...

I did quit for a while but, like Toast said, I dont feel a proper benefit to it other than having saved 40/50 quid every month. Life just gets extra stressful.

Honestly? I have learned a great deal about myself by quitting smoking without having smoked a cigarette since then, getting fat or relocating addiction.

Overall I'm much more relaxed and know that I can do a lot more than I thought before. I know that sounds a little esoteric, but that's the way it is.
