I just discovered both members of this old songwriting partnership are still alive: Sid Tepper and Roy C. Bennett. They wrote hits for Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Cliff Richard, Dean Martin and Elvis Presley amongst others. Both of them were born in 1918.

Here is an interview with Tepper from Elvis' official site: http://www.elvis.com.au/presley/songwriter_sid_tepper_reminisces_about_elvis.shtml

After the death of Sid Tepper earlier this year, Roy C Bennett has decided to join him in dying. He was 97. http://variety.com/2015/music/people-news/roy-c-bennett-dies-at-97-wrote-songs-for-sinatra-elvis-the-beatles-1201537186/

So we are certain this Meshel and the previous post's Meshaal aren't referring to the same dude cuz that's beyond coincidental. That's eerie.

Whoa...according to tweets in article Duane Eddy is alive. Chalk him up for my personal 'surprised to find they were alive' list.

Yes, Duane Eddy is alive and well. However he suffered a huge set back (financially and emotionally) a few years ago when he lost 32 of his guitars (many of them very valuable) in a flood that hit Nashville.

He's big mates with DJ Bob Harris (amazingly still alive since that deep "whispering Bob" voice owes a lot to his love of a smoke), Bob meets Duane every time Bob heads to Nashville and tends to mention it on his show afterwards. .

And, Dick Dale (b.1937) and a more "out there" guitarist than Duane Eddy is also still breathing.

I knew this one as Mr Dale has toured the US as recently as a year ago. That said, and not from lack of trying, I've nay seen him to date. Along those lines, Buddy Guy is in town this weekend, but $60?!!! Looks like I'm passing. Go ahead call me a cheap fuck, but c'mon that's ridiculous.

It depends on who's paying. 10 years ago I paid a total of $54 to see B.B. King, Etta James, and Al Green.

If it's the Blues Festival that Buddy is playing in, the additional bands / acts might make the $60 seem a decent price to pay.

Oh sure a lineup like that would be super. No he's alone playing a casino holds maybe 1000-1500.

Wow, it sounds like he could drop dead any minute, but he needs to continue playing for the money, so he'll probably die on stage. But at least, he has a motivation to live on, that's always good for your life expectancy.
