Sir Creep 5,757 Posted January 14 Alfred Theodore “Ted” Goodwin, who was responsible for a series of bold rulings that helped shape Oregon today, died late last month at the age of 99 after serving more than six decades as a state and federal judge. According to an obituary published by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Goodwin was “the oldest federal judge in the country, as well as the longest-serving current federal judge.” One of Goodwin’s sons told The Oregonian/OregonLive that Goodwin was working cases until about two years ago. Actually many on here have praised the info, but if you don’t like it you can scroll. I put the name in bold so you can see it, and go to your lists or whatever and make notations without having to read further. In both cases it’s not only helpful but a primer on how a proper obit posting should be made on DL. SCreep
alt obits guy 2,255 Posted January 18 Greg Allen, the current police chief of El Paso, Texas, has died. He was 71. El Paso was ranked among the safest large cities in the nation during his nearly 15 years at the helm of the Police Department. No easy feat, as it's a border town with Mexico, not to mention being in Texas. The news comes as the federal Department of Justice decided not to seek the death penalty for El Paso Walmart shooter Patrick Crusius. https://www.elpasotimes.com/story/news/local/el-paso/2023/01/17/el-paso-police-chief-greg-allen-dies-led-department-nearly-15-years/69816394007/
