Not that I watch it but I thought the antiques were supposed to be the artefacts they discover in peoples attics not the presenters.

Antiques Roadshow’s china plate, Henry Sandon, is 90 today.  :birthday:

He’s still able to get out and about and here’s a photo taken just 10 days ago of him looking chipper at Worcester Racecourse.

Everytime I saw him he always started with, "pretty little pot ". Bless him.

Yes, some diplomacy is called for when picking over people's old tat valuable antiques.  There's a chap at a certain high-class auction house I know who is unlikely to be selected for Antiques Roadshow unless they ever decide to go for the comedy value of extreme rudeness.

Originally diagnosed last summer with 1-2 years to live. Will definitely be a juicy DDP pick next year if she makes it.

I’m not sure. While glioblastoma still does kill you in the end, we’ve seen a lot more cases reach 3+ years in more recent times. Then again folk like Tom Parker do still happen so I could be wrong

Charles Hanson charged with domestic abuse: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/charles-hanson-bargain-hunt-assault-charges-derbyshire-b1128401.html

This news, quite frankly, astonishes me. Iirc, he's also had a testicle off.

I know that TV and real life personas don't necessarily match, and it's meaningless to say that someone doesn't seem the domestic abuser 'type', but I agree this one does seem bizarre. The recent episodes of Celebrity(sic) Antiques Road Trip he appears in are still on iPlayer. He doesn't seem to have been in the current or previous series of the standard version.

Henry Sandon has at last passed away:

Always a pleasure to see, I'll miss him and his extensive knowledge. RIP.

But is he banned from seeing Christine Trevanion, Izzie Balmer, Catherine Southon, Roo Irvine or Kate Alcock?

Doesn’t matter if he is innocent or guilty now. He’s finished.

Charles Hanson on trial next year

Apart from that video from the Friends auction, he hasn't been on the BBC or the Antiques Road Trip repeats on UKTV channels.

Edit 25 April (not bumping since it would be useless clicks): Has since been (badly) blurred out of Bargain Hunt opening titles.

Geoffrey Bell, who appeared as a coin expert on several episodes of "Canadian Antique Roadshow" and who was the father of a long-time friend of mine, has died. He was 82. Bell co-founded Geoffrey Bell Auctions in 2008, among many other accomplishments.

Her regular scans have shown no cancer regrowth so far.

Theo Burrell update, the cancer has started growing again and she needs more treatment:

Possibly too late of a development in the year for 2024, but 2025....
