RIP Wee Jum 1,559 Posted June 29, 2013 Can't do link and name unfamiliar..... Which side ? There was many countries with conscripts in that yank humiliation. President Richard Nixon appointed Tarr as director of the Selective Service System in 1970. The nation had held its first lottery drawing for the draft in December 1969, and Tarr was responsible for implementing the changes, said Dick Flahavan, spokesman for the Selective Service. Before the lottery, local draft boards had control over who was called and who was not.

Oz, France, south Vietnam , north Vietnam, China, Russia and UK (coff) had conscripts....plus Laos, Thailand etc.

maryportfuncity 10,651 Posted July 7, 2013 The Other Lives obit section in yesterday's Guardian charted the demise of Arabella Campbell. 16 year old heart-failure case who'd just finished her GCSEs and - well - that's about it. Significant in that it might make us question what qualifies for obits. DDP rules would surely count that source.

maryportfuncity 10,651 Posted July 7, 2013 It does already, it has had hits from there before. But no-one other than yourself seems keen on picking under 18's. Age isn't really the issue here; it's the fact that someone with no claim to any significant fame just copped a qualifying write up.
