Ideas And Possibilities For 2014

Now that she's won the 2013 Nobel Prize for Literature, I think Alice Munro is, at age 82, one to keep an eye on. I know nothing about her health, but when given late in life the Prize is a bit of a kiss of death.

Hein

I'm one of two to have picked her on the 2013 DDP, based around the fact she cancelled all public appearances at the tail-end of last year due to "health issues". She's officially retired from writing and has done hardly anything in the way of interviews the past 12 months, but I think she'll be more of a fade away death than a burnout, could drop dead tomorrow, could still be Harper Lee-ing on into her 90s.

last year the list ignored big motor sport names like Carroll Shelby, among others, possible 2014 names up for dying : Sir Jack Brabham (87) , Sir Sterling Moss (84), Paul Pietsch (100,oldest living F1 driver) and Sir John Surtees (79)

Yes, and John Surtees isn't (scandalously) a knight of the Realm either, not to mention Stirling Moss is spelt wrong.

Moss is frail but will see 2015, likewise Surtees. Brabham is a very decent pick though.

The general threat to prominent and non-radical Halibuts opens up a dead pooling deluge of DDP possibles.

Ah, Halibuts killing Halibuts... I shouldn't approve, but for several reasons I rather like the thought, one of which that this kind of cannibalistic violence tends to signal that the cause is running out of steam.

Hein

This sure surely be one for the list in 2014 if she survives 2013. BBC journalist Helen Fawkes , can't see her not getting a orbit on the BBC.

Love that. She should put it on her list.

And don't rule out somebody targetting the ever-higher-profile Malala again. She presented her autobiography to the Queen yesterday and spoke at the UN recently. Thought I'd share an office conversation where she's concerned.

What if...

On her 18th birthday she got a phonecall from Playboy magazine and they made the usual request they'd ask of a high-profile young woman: but offered to pay by building a MASSIVE school for girls...

Indeed, no excuse for that omission, assuming she is still breathing come January 1st

Well, you know what, I'm not - as it stands - including her in 2014. If you read into her situation a little bit more, she could actually be alive for another 20 years or so.

That said, tactically speaking, DDP wise, she's worth a lot of points if she did deteroriate, so for those teams who are struggling to get to 20 names, she's not the worst pick ever.

I feel there's 20 better prospects than her at the moment.

Agreed. She's currently one of my back-ups, and I'll probably include her 2-3 years from now (assuming she doesn't die in 2014).

I'm likewise with Oc on this, been checking on her blog ever since she was first mentioned on here and her treatment seems to be going remarkably well. She's on my shortlist, but that's about 40 names and there'd need to be a large swath of demises amongst those and no new names popping up for her to make the final cut.

Jenna Jameson looks drugged out in this news clip.

Maybe not high risk for a death 2014 death but someone to keep an eye on.

Looks like she's taking muscle relaxers to me and they are notorious for killing heath ledger , Elvis , anna nicole smith and goodness knows how many wrestlers.

Long-odds dead pooling bait arrives in the form of bucket-lister Lamenda Kingdon; unwittingly a news story because her jaunt to Granada accidently got her hoiked off in the direction of Grenada. I'm not the only dead pooler rueing the day I picked the likes of her in the past. But she's snagged local BBC news coverage here and got that linked to the national site (the minimum standard for DDP points). Will they afford her the same coverage as and when?

Could be worth keeping an eye on Ted Nugent. Someone tried to assassinate him last week

FFS!

Have you read this story? LOL funny, but they can't even spell BARACK Obama's first name. I'd say Ted will be sleeping fine tonight.

I did, I knew it to be a hoax, but the way Nugent's been outspoken in recent years that this could be a reality pretty soon.
