Shove Off, Eh?

Barbara Hagerman, a former-lieutenant governor of Prince Edward Island, is both candid and inspiring in discussing her terminal cancer.

The 73-year-old Stratford resident told The Guardian Thursday that she learned of her fate on June 10 when a gynecologist in Halifax gave her the jolting news.

She was told she has a mere three to nine months to live due to a rare form of ovarian cancer.

She was told to have her affairs in order.

I'd say she qualifies as my #1 Joker if she enters the starting gate.

Wayne Smith forged an improbable path toward Canadian Football League stardom. Smith, who died at home in Halifax on the weekend at age 66, had limited experience when he stepped into the CFL and went on to win two Grey Cup championships with the Ottawa Rough Riders.

A Scot who called himself a proud Canadian -- good enough for me.

Bill Marshall, the producer and writer who founded the Toronto International Film Festival in 1976, died Sunday morning of cardiac arrest. He was 77. The festival announced his death with a pair of statements from Marshalls family and TIFF director Piers Handling.

Edit: Almost our first legit death of the year. I need something bigger.

Steve Lang, bassist for Canadian rock band April Wine, has died aged 67.

Wow that sucks. April Wine had a brief moment back around 1980. Roller is just a great tune. BTW Thatcher, YoungWillz established the precedent for also posting a popular song by the group/artist along with the obit. If you want.... I think it's a pretty nice touch.

Would be even nicer if we could have the video embedding restored.

Report of the death of Betty Kennedy, Canadian broadcaster and politician, aged 91. https://twitter.com/CBCAlerts/status/844232739603824644

Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_Kennedy

Now I don't know if this is the Betty Kennedy on the DDP, or whether that is the actress. TMIB to clarify before adding to the round up.
