More blues inspired than rock I'd say. On The Road Again (biggest UK hit) definitely doesn't fit here.

Tbf, a lot of hard rock is blues inspired anyways, though I get your point.

Yeah, even Going Up The Country is really a period piece of pure 60s pop.

Eddie Money, who had a string of hits in the 70's and 80's and who is featured in a reality show with his family (wasn't sure if I should've posted here or in the Reality TV thread) was apparently diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer late last year, according to TMZ.  It looks like the normal life expectancy for such a diagnosis is 6 months, so he's already outlived that.  I'm sure he's getting the best care imaginable, but if he makes it to 2020, he seems like a great pick in pools next year.  (I'll post in the 2020 suggestion thread as well.)

Never heard of him.  Don't think he had any UK hits.

I have heard of him because Homer Simpson sings Two Tickets to Paradise in one of the early Simpsons! And that was repeated on Channel 4 within the last week.

But if both of those things hadn't happened, I wouldn't have. Apparently he sold millions in the US and Canada, but nowt here.

Anyhow, the combo of Stage IV cancer and heart issues make him a good 2020 pick for teams who wish to do so, and the Daily Mail/Guardian (and maybe the Beeb themselves) will certainly cover him.

It's not a great song, but it does stick in your head like an unwanted gift.

Oh, I remember that Simpsons scene!

Sounds like a "Gary De Carlo" type to me.

Money is far more famous the De Carlo. I knew him before he was mentioned here, mainly for the song posted by msc.

He also has the annoyance of a song "Take Me Home Tonight"

"Take Me Home Tonight" is known by everyone of a certain age (born between, say, 1980 and 1986) because it was on the soundtrack to "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City".

So another nuance in the nailed-on obit, then.

The subtitle of the inevitable thread will likely have someting to do with cashing in or us all being in the Money

Why that reaction?  If he'd had any hits over here I would at least recognise the name.

Was chatting with Wreckless a year ago about Larry over dinner. He told me that Larry was bedridden, didn't realize he was that bad.

Unique pick for me on the DDP - pending a q/o, obviously.

So, whilst we await the q/o - here's the man's finest slice of solo action:

Still awaiting that q/o for Larry. Thought he'd be nailed on by some lefty broadsheet as a Stiff producer and sometime Pink Fairy, anyone seen owt, cos I fucking haven't!

Was he in the Pink Fairies?  I used to like them.  I vaguely remember going to see them in about 1972.

Fairies - with whom he's most associated by rock fans

Other stints with lesser known line ups of UFO, Motorhead (first lead guitarist) and Blodwyn Pig. Staff producer (as much as such a thing existed there) at Stiff Records and also a solo act with them and featured on their first package tour and the famous Live Stiffs album.

Seriously, where is this q/o?
