See, Joey, this is where I'd have every right to use the Clive Dunn emoticon (posting the news in the correct thread an hour ago), but restraint is key.

Luis Garisto at 71.

Played for Uruguay at the '74 WC.

Had that silky style Uruguayan defenders are still known for, abely demonstrated in a warm up v Australia for the WC where he ended the career of the then top scoring Oz international, Ray Baartz with a punch.

According to FIFA.com he was on the bench for both games.

According to a flimsy google search, subs were first allowed at the 70 World Cup?

Jacques Simon, who played for France at the 1966 FIFA World Cup, has died aged 76. He played in the England v. France game, which England won 2-0, and was subject to a nasty tackle by Nobby Stiles - hence his name has appeared in a couple of UK newspaper reports, notably The GuardianFinancial Times and The Independent. Will he return to get his revenge by scything Nobby?
