Took a couple looks for English obit -- to no avail.  Looks like his surname may be spelled with an O (Nicklasson), but not even sure of that lol

Pavel Panov at 67, Bulgarian striker from 74 WC.

Third in all time Euro competition Bulgarian scoring charts, only Stoichkov and Bervatov scored more, tho he did it all from the Bulgarian league with Levski Sofia.

Here he scores both Levski goals to tie it up v the great Ajax  side in 75, and eventually knock them on on pens. Funky soundtrack too.

Last but not least, 1958 survivors. Again, I'd be grateful if someone could tidy up this to make it readable.

Although there is an argument this could be within the Time Added thread, to be fair there is 8,000,000 threads about music, so why not two about football.

Some of those interested enough would have noticed my posts on early deaths of World Cup Players - but this is Deathlist and DDP ideas are wanted, I am sure and it is unlikely Emile Heskey, Paolo Wanchope and Philippe Lahm are going to be on many death pools.

In time, I& will try and do all the pre-1962 surviving players, but for now, I will round up the 1950 players and pre-1938 - of which there is only one, Rene Llense, who is near 100 (EDIT Now dead). He was however a squad player who never played.

Of the 1950 players, there are a maximum of 40 alive. However that World Cup saw a lot of South American teams, whose players are virtual unknowns, so the likelihood is that more Mexicans, Chilean, Bolivian and Paraguyan players are dead. 1954 and 1958 should be slightly more accurate.

Some famous names on there though and some certainly worth a stab on the DDP.

This will also be where other World Cup Players' deaths can be posted - and why not start as I mean to go on, with the death of Jan Zlocha, who played for the Czechoslovakian team in 1970 - 7 of their squad dead already. http://www.cas.sk/cl...ntant-cssr.html (IN Czech)

Note the below is only who played, not squad members (like Llense);

As we've 2 months off another World cup (someone's starting a thread in extra-curic nearer the time,  right?) added folk to the great @Octopus of Odstock's list based off this thread. Probably missing folk, almost certainly, so have at it.

2.      2010: 2: Gohouri and Tiote (Cote D’Ivoire)

3.      2006: 4; Tchangai (Togo), Benitez (Ecuador), Husin (Ukraine), Badilla (Costa Rica)

4.      2002; 3; Lekgetho (South Africa), Matsuda (Japan), Foe (Cameroon)

5.      1998: 7; Cargill, Malcolm (Jamaica), Cornejo (Chile), Yekini & Okafor (Nigeria), Khiliawi (Saudi Arabia), Ivanov (Bulgaria)

6.      1994; 16: Escobar and Gaviria (Colombia), Castillo (Bolivia), Foe (Cameroon), Mfede (Cameroon), Yekini, Oliha and Agbonavbare (Nigeria), Khilawi (Saudi), Tsimibiliar (Russia), Ingesson (Sweden), Moscoeu (S Africa), Ivanov (Bulgaria), Prodan (Romania), Jin-ho (S Korea), Weber (Belgium)

7.      1990; 7; Klein (Romania), Escobar (Colombia), Glatzmeyer (Austria), Clijsters (Belgium), Mfede (Cameroon), Ingesson (Sweden), Massing (Cameroon)

8.      1986: 21; Cooper (Scotland), Hakim and Shihab (Iraq), Bento, Damas and Antonio (Portugal), Scirea (Italy), Eriksen (Denmark), Clijsters (Belgium), Cuciuffo (Argentina), Socrates (Brazil), McDonald (N.Ireland), Smolarek and Ostrowski (Poland), Bal and Chanov (USSR), Gospodinov and Sadakov (Bulgaria), Cabanas (Paraguay), Dolmy (Morocco), Wilkins (England)

9.       1982: 23; Juanito (Spain), Drummond (Honduras), Dirceu and Waldir Peres (Brazil), Brotherston (N.Ireland), Scirea (Italy), Coeck, Van der Elst and Baecke (Belgium), Socrates (Brazil), Smolarek (Poland), Abega (Cameroon), Susloparev, Shengelia, Daraselia and Bal (USSR), Vojacek (Czechoslovakia), Santamaria (Argentina), Cole (New Zealand) ,Mahut (France), Pezzey (Austria), Rivas (El Salvador), Sumner (New Zealand)

10.  1978; 27; Torok, Kocsis, Kovacs, Halasz and Pustzai (Hungary), Pepi (France), Toninho, Dirceu, Mendoca and Chicao (Brazil), Pezzey and Happich (Austria), R Rojas (Peru), Nejazi (Iran), Scirea (Italy), Russmann (Germany), Akid (Tunisia), Juanito (Spain), Deyna, Kukla and Mazur (Poland), Flores (Mexico), Flohe (W.Germany), Jardine (Scotland), Nanninga (Holland), Dropsy (France), Houseman (Argentina)

1986 and 1994 have taken a bit of a bashing last 4 years. And somehow there's no 1982 Scots dead yet. Only team in that group that everyone still standing. Letting the national stereotype down here, lads.

Ray Wilkins needs adding to the 1986 list.  Loved his red card vs Morocco.

The Scotland 82 squad was great.

3 Celtic, 3 Ipswich, 4 Aberdeen, 3 Dundee utd, even 1 AC Milan.

Not a hun in there. (Bar the ones that supported them).

74 + 78 were similar.

Out of the 82 squad, Robertson and Burley and Soooooooness favourites to peg.

Burley was in the squad? Never noticed that. Think he''s a decent shot of going before Craig Brown (or even the 96 year old).

Wouldn't surprise if Joe Jordan or Paul Sturrock went first either, tbh.

Should have been a 5 time World Cup manager as he qualified Tunisia for the 2002 Cup, only for them to sack him weeks before the tournament. Ungrateful sods.
