Yes, although Czech healthcare is some of the best around, Panenka is not in good shape generally, and the Czech diet is poor, so I don't think his chances are great. He will forever be a hero for his penalty and helping Czechoslovakia win the 1976 European Championships.

Two paragraphs down it talks about a moment's silence for the memory of the LATE Urbano Rivera.

So likely he died that month.

Just got the news on the sky app, really surprised knew he was ill with Cancer a few years ago but thought he had beaten it obviously not sadly, easily one of the best goalkeepers of his generation and has secured his place as one of the great goalkeepers of all time. Won 3 European Cups with Liverpool alongside various Leagues and Cups and Won UEFA Cup with Spurs as well as playing over 1,000 career games is some record.

 

As a United fan I’m not overly keen on a lot of ex Liverpool players(Dalglish, Souness etc) of that era as they come across as so arrogant and Liverpool can do no wrong (though I suppose same could be said about United players from our successful era)even if I admire and respect there records but Ray Clemence along with Keegan were one’s I liked as they came across as genuinely nice down to earth people I wasn’t expecting the news as I’m sure a lot weren’t RIP Ray sad loss.

Odd given he's had prostate cancer since the early 2000s. Has this only come to light since he died or has it been known before? (I could search, but you know...)

The word legend gets overused, but nit in this case. A tremendously successful club career that many modern English players would struggle to emulate.  Shame his career ran parallel with Peter shilton who was a slightly better keeper at his peak in my opinion.

My generation grew up watching his team rule the domestic and Eurooean game. RIP
