Impressive achievement for him to have lived that far, a 101-year old who survived 2 months and 20 days after entering hospice care (the average life expectancy for someone put in hospice care is usually half of that) and that he lived more than a month after being discharged from hospice care.

Rest in Peace, Brazilian Scooby-Doo

Happy belated 100th birthday to aerospace engineer Wang Xiji! :birthday:

Widely celebrated, but could not find any photo of him on his birthday, which may be not a good sign.

No idea who the oldest AAGPBL player is now, possibly Betsy Jochum (wiki) who turned 100 in February. There are still quite a few around.

After a couple of deaths in May, we have our first June centenarians, here are some of them... I'd say these are a pretty strong trio:

James Francis Edwards, born 5th of June 1921. Canadian WWII pilot, with 19 aerial victories he was Canada's highest scoring ace in the Western Desert Campaign. He shot down Luftwaffe ace Otto Schultz (51 aerial victories) in 1942 and probably also Günter Steinhausen (40 aerial victories), later the same year. Picture from an interview on his 100th

Jakob Skarstein, born 7th of June 1921. Longtime radio journalist and personality since 1945.

P.K. Warrier, born 8th of June 1921. Ayurveda alternative medicine practicioner.

Maybe not such a strong trio as I thought, as now Skarstein is also dead:

(Warrier died at the start of July, Edwards is the only one of the trio living now)

The four living notable Finnish centenarians notable enough to get a Finnish wiki are:

...

Keijo Virtamo (b. 1919) Encyclopedist, also notable for being the last living veteran from the "Ässärykmentti" regiment during WWII. Newest article about him is from december, he'll be 102 on the 8th of next month.

...

His 102th birthday was on the 7th, can't find anything new about him. Latest picture from Dec 2019, latest news article from Dec 2020 with a recording of him singing aged 101. Bad sign, considering he was already mostly bedbound at 100. Here he is in December 2019, in the framed photograph is a picture from his 100th:

virtamo.thumb.png.fed5f0b81d2e21fb63bea85650c2aa91.png

Also by far the oldest living notable Finnish person to have an IMDB page: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3A499451/

Appeared in multiple episodes of Naapurivisa (1966-1970). It was a quiz/game show that had a three-member team from Finland and the Estonian SSR. As far as I know Virtamo is the only living participant and only living cast member who wasn't a performer. Naapurivisa was rare at the time as it was made as a collaboration of people from different sides of the Iron Curtain and also (originally) approved by the Soviets. Here is one episode from 1966, Virtamo is also in it: https://arhiiv.err.ee/vaata/55588

The show's expanding popularity in the Estonian SSR caused the Soviet Union to end it in 1970.

Ria van Dijk AKA Luchtbuks Ria (Airgun Ria) turned 100 yesterday. She won't get an UK Obit but well, it's a more-or-less interesting story and - to my surprise - the Daily Mail has covered it in 2012 (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2095400/Ria-van-Dijk-takes-photograph-fairground-rifle-range-year-1936.html)

Long story short: since 1936, she goes to the fairground in Tilburg to shoot at a shooting gallery. You would get a picture if you shoot the target. She just collected the pictures until around 2007 someone made an art book out of it and 2 years later she sold her collection to the Stedelijk Museum (spending the few thousand euros she received on a bus trip with friends to an organ museum and eating at a trout restaurant). She keeps on shooting every year. This year, the fairground was cancelled this year due to COVID,  but as a surprise it came over to her care home.

She's on oxygen now, but hit bullseye once again https://www.destentor.nl/home/slecht-ter-been-maar-eigenwijze-luchtbuks-ria-101-schiet-staand-en-twee-keer-raak~af2fc373/?referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F.

I hope it hasn't been posted before.... didn't find anything... it seems that DDP pick and centenarian Swedish actress Sylva Akesson died in May at 104, but you have to dig deep for a source.

Less mentioned people with Wiki articles that are going to be 100 next year if still alive:

Valérie André (21 April 1922-) First female member of the French military to become a General Officer, one of the eight women to hold the Legion of Honour Grand Cross and one of the two living ones out of these eight with Simone Rozès (1920-)

Rolands Kalniņš (9 May 1922-) Latvian film director.

J. C. P. Williams (16 November 1922? or possibly 1930/early 1930s-) New Zealand cardiologist. Discovered the Williams syndrome in 1961, disappeared off the face of the earth in the late 70s or early 80s possibly due to Janet Frame refusing to marry him. The only proof of him possibly living after disappearing is that he reportedly contacted author Michael King (1945-2004) in 2000 asking King to not discuss him in Janet Frame's biography.

Bhisadej Rajani (20 January 1922-) Thai royal, good friend of the late King Bhumibol. Also has had some royal duties.

Guy Stern (14 January 1922-) German scholar, interrogated German POWs during WWII.

P. Gopinathan Nair (7 July 1922-) Indian social worker, independence activist and chairman of the Gandhi National Memorial trust.

Ichiro Abe (12 November 1922-27 February 2022) One of the living three Kodokan 10th dan, the two others both being 95.
