Just visited a museum where I found this painting from 1791 by Rémy-Furcy Descarsin representing a couple of centenarians from the north of France. The man was called Rene Dogereau and the woman Perrine Trouillard. According to some sources Perrine was born in 1667 but I don’t think it’s true because she would have been 124 in 1791 when the painting was done.

Anyway it was a so rare to be a centenarian back in the XVIIIth century that this famous painter decided to immortalize this peculiar couple.

I thought maybe it would interest someone here, guess it could have been added to the world oldest thread but I wasn’t sure about it

Nehemiah Persoff apparently gave an interview and was in a photoshoot for his new book around a week or two ago:

Immortal potential? Suffered a bad stroke in 1989 that stopped his acting career. Obese until around 95-100 when he seems to have lost a ton of weight...

Looks different in nearly every picture of him from the last decade. Mikis Theodorakis lookalike at one point, very frail in those pictures from his 100th of him sitting in a chair.

Telegraph obit.

Still not a peep from the Mirror. He only worked for them for over 40 years...

Fernando Penteado Cardoso died on 7th of September aged 106 twelve days before his 107th, death not reported anywhere on the English wikipedia (probably because he only has a portugese wikipedia page, but he's still alive on the living centenarians list)

What's left of 1918 in my notes:

1918 –Shinobu Hashimoto, Yasuhiro Nakasone, Martin Pope, Guje Lagerwall, Hutton Gibson, Jens Skou, Rene de Obaldia, Paul D Boyer, Fay McKenzie, Katherine Johnson, Lloyd Geering, Ivy Bethune, Brenda Milner, Henri Vernes, Louise Tobin, T. Berry Brazelton, Josephine Webb, Francis Nye, Chuck Stevens, Frank Lambert, Doris Grumbach, Paul Farnes, Diana Serra Cary, Arthur Brauner

Fascinating figures, all, yes, but none of them really jump out as massively exciting potential centenarians.

1919 currently has a Beat poet, a Twilight Zone alumnus, Lord Carrington, James Lovelock, Spencer/Mercier and Mad Mike Hoare as it stands.

Grumbach, who is now 103, lost her partner of 49 years back in March.

Sybil Pike was 91 and co-owned Wayward Books in Maine with Grumbach.
