WTF? You always get all warm in the crotch over tepid news about a person in DP?

Big Fn deal, if he's only JUST NOW going on oxygen then he ain't going anywhere in 2017; and I say that with him on two of my teams.

February? Sure.... 2019. I can list half a dozen ALS sufferers who have lived with a trache tube breathing for them for years. OJ Brigance and Steve Gleason off the top of my tiny brain.

February. Pfffft.

There are varied and differing accounts. According to the Daily Mail link above, his brother said that Joost had been

"reliant on oxygen for some time but his condition had worsened and that they had kept the news quiet for the sake of his children"

While I realise that he doesn't want his kids moping and crying all the time, I do hope that those kids haven't been led to believe that their father is going to get better.

Joost "clarifies" his health situation:

He admits he's been on oxygen for two months but didn't tell because he didn't want to spook his daughter.

The family and friends of Joost ask that you all pray for Joost. He was taken to hospital earlier today and is in a critical condition.
We ask that you all please respect the families time at the moment.
When we have updates we will let you know for now we ask that we all bow our heads in prayer.

BBC and other thousands of sources are reporting it. This time he's done.

This does seem like a Mary Tyler Moore situation.

He's being kept alive by machines. Congratulations to The Unknown Man for the sweepstakes.

I'm vaguely confident he might not see 2018. Probably.

We're talking about an incurable, degenerative condition. While certain comorbidities that could make things worse (say pneumonia or flu) might be cured, the main, underlying condition will not get better.

He was given 2 to 5 years to live in 2011. So it was stoppage time for him anyways.
