All sorts of things being said on boards such as Autosport forum but I'll pick this quote out for now:

"French TV newsreport : MS's injuries are serious (cranial trauma), a brain surgeon has been sent to the Grenoble hospital where he is being treated. His family is with him, and next few hours will determine the actual extent of his injury."

Tad grim that, but we all known he is the type of guy who will only be in hospital for a single overnight stay...

BBC reported a few minutes ago that the specialist who flew down is a personal friend and might be offering his opinions as much as a favour as out of clear clinical need. They reckon it's too soon to report anything accurately with regard to the severity of any injury.

Oh aye, and Jim Bamber is still alive, and obitworthy, isn't he?

I actually didn't think it would be too bad and it was all precautionary but no doubt its very serious with these updates.

An according to this link its a cereal hemorrhage . Now did the trauma progress into a hemorrhage or did they both happen at the same time.

I just checked Wikipedia (yes i know not always 100% accurate) and if he has suffered a cerebral hemorrhage the prognosis is not good talking 50/50 chance of death.

Another quote off the boards goes:

"There is a fresh report on TV that Michael is in surgery right now with surgeons attempting to control a intracranial hemorrhage. As with everything, don't treat this as "official" news".

I bet that one team that's picked him on the DDP is on the edge of their sofa in front of Sky News as we speak.

Since it's just a theme team who have 20 people named "Mike" I somehow doubt it. But it would be their only hit, haha...

This is of course surprising, but not entirely unexpected, he did fall off a motorbike a few years back and break his neck. Seems like he couldn't give up the adrenalin. And there are plenty of ways to get yourself killed much quicker than driving an F1 car these days, but perhaps he didn't take enough care because he somehow had an idea in his head that he was safe now just because he's out of F1.

Can anyone think of any other famous people killed in skiing accidents? I can only think of Sonny Bono at the moment (while he was serving as a congressman in 1998).

Kennedy family member Michael Kennedy (a few weeks before Sonny) and actress Natasha Richardson both spring to mind.

Ok, now t3h Twitterz is saying it's "officially announced" he's in a coma.

Now he knows how we all felt on a typical Sunday afternoon in the early to mid 2000s.

Critically ill now most people are saying - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/motorsport/formulaone/michael-schumacher/10541824/Michael-Schumacher-in-critical-condition-after-suffering-head-injury-while-skiing.html

Losing Philippe Favre at the start of this month to a ski accident was bad enough, but Schumacher?

I'm not going to comment or speculate any more because no-one really knows other than the family and the hospital but bringing specialists in and the fact that Olivier Panis was turned away when Schumi was "not seriously ill" does make you think it's not good.

The man is Ayrton Senna compared to fucking Vettel!

Mind you, he's heading the same way as Senna if he's not careful...

Ok yeah, I was only joking. Yeah F1 was still 100x times more entertaining than it is now, when Schumacher was dominating.

Wouldn't it be deliciously ironic if his ambulance got bumped off the road? Maybe Damon Hill is in the south of France revving up a hastily-rented truck/bus as we speak.

Oh FFS. The press now have him fighting for his life

I fear it may be even worse than that.Traumatic brain injuries don't usually mean a full recovery is possible.Permanent brain damage is the best case scenario probably :( I hope for the sake of his wife and children that he pulls through though

Damn! I wasn't expecting that one! If he croaks within the last days of this year, my group "pas me the Mike" is going to score it's single death.

Especially since I haven't entered my DDP team yet. However, I have a feeling if he's gonna die it will be in the next 48 hours, he just seems like that kind of guy. Okay, so comatose people can't really decide when to die (or can they?) but somehow he just doesn't seem like the kind of hang-around-for-weeks/months case. Funny, I was gonna submit my team around 9PM on New Years' Eve but if he's still alive and comatose I think I'll have to enter him into the team at about 11:50PM on that night, and then quickly send the email over to you, haha......

It'd be interesting from a DDP perspective if he hangs on until the 3rd, his birthday...
