Max Griggs, president of the R Griggs group - as in the owners of Dr Martens - dead. He also formed the football team Rushden and Diamonds, taking them from non-league obscurity to the professional ranks and then swiftly back down again.

Rushden & Diamonds only really started to implode after Griggs removed his support. He found out how expensive it was to have a vanity football club.

While it was still owned by Griggs the R&D ground hosted a conference I attended. During lunch everyone just stood and looked at the empty pitch

AFC Rushden & Diamonds (@AFCRD) / Twitter

I support a non-league team and when Griggs took over he merged Rushden Town and Irthingborough Diamonds. He then bankrolled a meteoric rise through the pyramid and in a sense he was to blame (in my view) for a number of clubs throwing money around they didn't have in order to try to keep up with R&D.

A number of clubs in non-league went full-time as a result and since then we've seen a number of clubs endure boom and bust times. My own view is that this is a bad thing, but times have changed forever.

R&D then spent many years being a tenant of various clubs after they were locked out of their own ground which was subsequently flattened.

Kai Mäkelä, Finnish investor giant and multimillionaire dead at 74 from cancer.

Owned large parts of nearly every newspaper in the country, helped make tabloids big. Got a cancer diagnosis last month, however he was in bad health for a while, here in 2015:

Used his power to boost politicians. Hopefully the opportunistic douchebag/turncoat Björn Wahlroos who thinks that money is much more important than human lives (also opposes the covid restrictions for this reason and has said that human life should be measured with money) will follow him soon.

Yolanda Fernández de Cofiño, Guatemalan businesswoman and philanthropist who managed the MacDonalds franchise in Guatemala from 1974 and is recognized to have created Happy Meal has died aged 86:

https://www.prensalibre.com/guatemala/comunitario/fallece-dona-yolanda-de-cofino-figura-del-emprendimiento-y-labor-social-en-guatemala-breaking/

From the wikipedia page:

She created what she called the "Menú Ronald" (Ronald menu), which offered a hamburger, small fries and a small sundae to help mothers feed their children more effectively while at McDonald's restaurants. The concept was eventually brought to the attention of McDonald's management in Chicago. The company gave the development of the product to Bob Bernstein, who then came up with the idea for the Happy Meal.
