Sir Cliff Richard

Is on ITV right now on some cooking show. Not actually doing the cooking. Clearly in the old man stage now but can still run through his anecdotes, think he should be OK for a few years yet.

It’s on the BBC.

He seems to have got the charts confused as he thinks they used to take radio airplay into account. The British charts have never done that.

Cliff Richards manager and  friend  who he lived with for 30 years , Bill Latham, has died.

Are the Daily Mail trying to say he and Cliff were ahem together until he got married.

Not if you read this section of the article...

"They endured years of rumours about their relationship, with many probing at Sir Cliff’s sexuality. But the singer always refuted claims they were romantically involved.

Speaking in 2008, he said: ‘When Bill and I lived together, there were always stories about what people believed our real relationship was, but what nobody realised was that Bill’s girlfriend was living with us, too.

‘Nobody asked about that, not that it was anyone else’s business. When Bill decided to move out, it was because he and his girlfriend wanted to be alone together, simple as that.’"

There was no romance, it was strictly sexual.

Thus demonstrating that either Cliff or the Daily Mail don't know what 'refuted' means.

From that sentence one could infer that Bill was bisexual, Cliff fulfilling exactly the same role in the relationship that the girlfriend did.

I do not want to read about anything ‘probing at Sir Cliff’ at this time of the morning, thank you very much.

Report that Jay Norris, Cliff's English teacher who he long credited with spotting his career, has died aged 103:

She apparently authored a couple of books so would have qualified as a DDP pick.

Anyway, she pops up here 31 years ago on a special edition of Gloria to talk about her pupil:
