Every name under the sun has been given for him, the most credible IMHO is Francis Tumblety.

Then again........

The made for TV film that starred Michael Caine, named Sir William Gull. It has always struck me as being odd that the family didn't dispute it.

Stephen Knight - UK author - put forward a convoluted theory in which Walter Sickert found the victims, a coach driver called John Nettley picked them up and drove them around whilst William Gull poisoned them to slow them down and then did the ripping bit. All - apparently - to cover up the fact they were in on the secret that the Duke of Clarence was married to someone they knew. The motivation behind the whole thing being to cover up the idiot royal and his ill-starred marriage to a normal London girl.

Has anyone read the recent Bruce Robinson book, and - if so - who does he claim to be the Ripper?

Rumour was a few years ago he was convinced Michael Maybrick was the murderer. link: http://www.withnailbooks.com/2013/11/jack-ripper-has-withnails-creator-bruce.html

Sickert's name comes up due to pictures like these.

Are these influenced by being murderer, observing a murderer or just a fevered imagination (or all three).

:birthday: Sir Michael Caine, 85 years!  I really wish him another 100 years, but  I`m afraid he is one to Keep an eye on.

By the way, this man really deserve his own thread.

I know a few people on DeathList also lurk on the Casebook forums (as I do myself), so I thought we might start our own Jack the Ripper thread. What do we think about the latest news reports that it was Aaron Kosminski after all? Do we think the evidence (based on what has been reported so far) stands up?

The Daily Heil bring us back to DJL's opening post by saying Aaron Kosminski is the culprit:

The identity was confirmed by researchers from Liverpool John Moores University who shared their findings in the Journal of Forensic Sciences.
