I have a full shadow list but I have decided to wait until December to share it.

However I will say two things: Luise Rainer is on it and Christopher Lee should keep the No. 50 slot as a Deathlist Hero.

The following 3 are reportedly on deaths door and would be close to certain deaths if they make it to Jan 1

Mad Frankie Fraser

Peter Sutcliffe

Gordie Howe

Er..... yeah..... I know he is... because I'm the one who alerted DL to it while everyone else ignored how much of a gargantuan lardarse/sickly old coughbag he has become. *facepalm*

Might not even actually bother picking him now, I'm so annoyed. :shoot:

Couple of show-biz possibilities to consider. Warren Mitchell (Alf Garnett) is still around at the age of 88, and you don't see or hear much of Gorden Kaye these days - never been the same since his car accident in the storms of January 1990 ???

Helmut Schmidt is not going to die next year! Take Helmut Kohl instead. Or maybe Kohl's foreign minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher (87) who was too ill to attend the 25-year jubilee of the Fall of the Wall. Also, a couple of Nobel Prize winning economists could be on the list, Robert Solow (90) or Kenneth Arrow (93), or Douglass North (94).

I think Kohl could be a good pick but the rest of the names are DDP fodder, not instantly recognisable, unless of course you are an economist.

John Nash, U.S. mathematician and subject of the film A Beautiful Mind. Turns 87 next year, suffered mental illness during his lifetime too. A good pick that I haven't heard suggested on here before.

Here's a wikilink for John Nash:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Forbes_Nash,_Jr.

A good pick for 2015 IMHO, but not my decision to make, can only make good suggestions.

As for a bad pick...

How about Josef Fritzl?

80 next year, and is in prison. He can't go on forever.

Sir Nicholas Winton would be a very good pick for next years DL. He`s called "The british Schindler" who organized the rescue of roundabout 700 jewish childrens from Nazis-occupy. Sir Winton is actually 105 years old, for my opinion a must-have in every DL.

Not very likely that 3 former US Presidents and 3 former First Ladies, two of them married couples, will die in the same year.

I think Kohl could be a good pick but the rest of the names are DDP fodder, not instantly recognisable, unless of course you are an economist.

I dunno how much the British public knows or cares about European politicians, but H-D Genscher was/is much better known as a politician than as an economist. Although he was only a deputy PM (Vice Chancellor) and a foreign minister - but he held those posts for 18 years! And those years weren't even uneventful: during his tenure the Berlin Wall was torn down, Germany was reunited and the whole Warsaw Pack collapsed...

As for Solow and Arrow, perhaps they are not instantly recognisable for non-economists (is Chris Woodhead instantly recognisable?), but at least they were hugely influential in their field, unlike some of the more recent Laureates. (I'd still not recommend Arrow - since he's still in very good shape. Sure, nonagenarians are not really resilient if something bad happens to them - but boy, that chap has quite recently given an hour-long lecture standing at the lectern, and answering questions for an additional twenty minutes! He was lucid and fitter than my parents - who are both in their early sixties!

I would say at maximum: Nancy Reagan and George Bush for the former White House occupants. I was kind of playing with the possibilities of the other 3 names. Most logically: Reagan who has not been seen, but only once in the past couple of years and looked VERY frail. Bush 41 can't keep going much longer.

The rest of the picks were largely based upon age (80s, 90s, and above) and fame. Others such as Brokaw (battling cancer) and Moore, Ali, Hawking, Simpson, were considered for serious long-term health issues, in addition to their fame.
