Ideas And Possibilities For 2016

Movie producer Russell Wolfe (God's Not Dead) has rather advanced ALS, this is a SLAM DUNK for 2016, YOU LISTENING COMMITTEE?!?

SC

http://www.christiantoday.com/article/gods.not.dead.producer.asks.for.prayers.donations.in.als.battle/50214.htm

Looking at his imdb page I don't think he even comes close to fame level for the deathlist committee to consider. He might not even scrape a Daily Mail obit.

something will kill him sometime

Can't argue this. Impeccable logic.

I dunno. Charlie could pull a Bruce Jenner and then there wouldn't be a 'him' to fulfill this decree.

The movie was a surprise hit at the American box office last year. Now, it was no blockbuster like The Avengers or something like that, but it made a respectable amount of money and had an audience beyond hardcore Christians. I don't know if that will be enough, but if the guy dies in the near future, i.e. before the movie is forgotten, then the chances are there. Richard Glatzer, producer of "Still Alice" was a similar case. The movie gave Julianne Moore an Oscar, and Glatzer died a month or so later. Glatzer also had ALS, curiously. And he "received" lots of obituaries.

6th time a charm? I say David Rockefeller never sees 2016 though, 99-yr old body can't take that abuse.

That is terrifying. How could he already spend 6 hearts? Aren't there other people needing those as well? It's the money...

How could he spend 6 hearts? Well, the article states he went jogging a week after the first of those operations...

His attitude to these transplants might be a little strange as well...

"«Every time I get a new heart, it is like the breath of life is swept across my body. I feel reenergized and alive» he told reporters."

It almost sounds like some of these were not even absolutely necessary. And let's not forget the two livers.

I kind of hope that something like this could never happen in Europe and the waiting lists for organs are based on need and medical criteria, and not the wealth of the individual.

I'm probably too naïve.

In fact, organ donations have collapsed in Germany because of several scandals of that kind:

Eh, does the next story not tell you something about that site?

"Alexandrov Varennikov Voloshin, a retired KGB agent, has admitted this week on National Russian Television (NTV) that the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was behind the creation of the 1970s punk scene and financed major punk bands such as the Sex Pistols, the Clash and the Ramones."

Or the one about the pig brothel to close?

Etc etc..

 Good catch!

I haven't seen the article about the pig brothel, but looking at these other posts it's painfully obvious that it's a hoax/faux news site.

That outrageous quote from Rockefeller must've rung the bell but the rest of the article wasn't funny enough to alert me.

I also have to admit that I wasn't on my guard cause gcreptile and SirCreep already commented on it as if it was serious and that made me lazy enough to ignore the cues. ;)

Heh, this morning, in the bathtub (for whatever reason), I also began to think that it was a hoax.

PM of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, has prostate cancer.

Patients with a similar medical profile and treatment as Mr Lee have a cancer-specific survival rate of 99 per cent at 15 years, said the PMO, citing data from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in the United States.

Seems like a remote chance. I guess they might screen for prostate cancers and the vast majority of those are medically insignificant (early stage indolent cancers).

He was given the all clear:

Will Jimmy Greaves survive long enough to be included next year?

A stroke is not always fatal but he was not that well anyway.

One of the DL:ers for this year, Leslie Phillips, made me think of another old actor: Conrad Phillips. Famous for his role as Wilhelm Tell, he's just a year younger (1925) and was "forced" to retire from acting in 1991.

"Severe back pain, two replacement knees and a replacement hip brought a premature end to Conrad Phillips' acting career and he retired from the screen in 1991."

He published an autobiography in 2013: http://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/actor-conrad-phillips-tells-it-as-it-was/36435376

Leslie Phillips suffered a stroke last year, and he's still going.

Don't know as he'll last that long as it's inoperable, but French singer/songwriter Michel Delpech has his throat cancer back with a vengeance.

Would be 70 in January coming.

Journalist Jeff Todd, who helped Arthur Porter write The Man Behind the Bow Tie, says Porters family announced Monday his illness (cancer) has worsened and he needs alternative treatment in hospital.

Porter has been detained since May 2013 in a Panamanian prison as he fights extradition to Canada. He faces fraud charges in Canada related to a $1.3-billion hospital project in Montreal (where he was CEO)
