Death Notice for Randolph Stewart, 13th Earl of Galloway, now added to the Telegraph announcements today: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/241233/stewart

Genuinely shocked this happened off radar.

Quite a colourful life. His parents lobotomised him when he was younger (he had what would now be identified as autism).

I imagine his obit will be worth a read!

Very odd.

Could it be Covid - some care home deaths with it had happened by the end of march.

Interesting interview with the Countess of Mar, 80 in September.

She just retired from the House of Lords and as such there are no remaining female hereditary peers.

There were 5 of them left after the reforms in 1999 but 4 of them died and were replaced by men.

Death Notice for Rose Stephenson (nee Asquith) aged 94, the daughter of Cyril Asquith, Baron Asquith of Bishopstone, who in turn was the youngest son of former PM Herbert Henry Asquith: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/242083/stephenson

Married to John Stephenson, a former Lord Justice of Appeal who died in 1998.

She's mentioned in most of the above Wiki links and also here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asquith_family

And who says there isn't a class system and an Establishment.....

Given the amount I've read about reduced lifespans and autism its impressive that he made it to 91. Especially given that he was not left anything bar the title by his parents and was subject to such barbaric medical treatment.

On the subject of lobotomies, there can't be too many left alive who had them surely?

Death Notice for Sir William Pigott-Brown, 3rd Baronet: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/242202/pigott-brown-sir-william-bt

Wiki (mention): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pigott-Brown_baronets

He succeeded to the baronetcy within his first two years of life and held it since 1942. According to various articles, he seems to have enjoyed gambling and the ladies and there's some indication he was a jockey at some point. There appears to be no heir to the baronetcy.

I'm pretty sure I remember him riding as an amateur in NH races.

Yes, here he is.  https://sites.google.com/site/jockeypedia5/pigott-brown-william

Won't be surprised if he gets a QO.

Nicolas Rea, 3rd Baron Rea, died on Monday aged 91 according to the UK Parliament site.

Before taking an active role in the House, he was an Army doctor, serving in Nigeria before becoming a GP in north London.

A hereditary peer, he first sat in the House of Lords in 1982 and was elected to remain in 1999 when the reforms came in.

His death means that The 3rd Viscount Simon, 79, is the last Labour hereditary elected to stay in 1999 still living.

One of those DDP picks we need a QO for.

Not that it really matters for pooling purposes, but @Toast you are right: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8385713/RICHARD-KAY-dies-aged-79-men-lived-life-gallop-Sir-William-Pigott-Brown.html

1919: George Boscawen, 9th Viscount Falmouth

Jun 1921: Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh
Feb 1924: Andrew Bruce, 11th Earl of Elgin

May 1924: Malcolm Greenhill, 3rd Baron Greenhill Died 13 Jan 2020 (95)
Jul 1924: John Dodson, 3rd Baron Monk Bretton
Sep 1924: Edmund Ironside, 2nd Baron Ironside Died 13 Jan 2020 (95)
1925: John Christopher Loder, 3rd Baron Wakehurst
02 Mar 1926: Richard Dickinson, 2nd Baron Dickinson Died 28 Nov 2019 (93)
31 Mar 1926: Michael Brudenell-Bruce, 8th Marquess of Ailesbury
May 1926: David Ogilvy, 13th Earl of Airlie

16 Dec 1926: Robert Yerburgh, 2nd Baron Alvingham Died 29 Mar 2020 (93)
27 Dec 1926: Michael Holland-Hibbert, 6th Viscount Knutsford

Only wrote this to 1926 but these are the oldest living hereditary peers to have lost their seats in the House of Lords after the 1999 reforms. One or two will be familiar but largely a Who's Who of "Who?".

Anyway, DDP gold as they'll all obit, and all turning 93+ next year.

Thought I'd update this.

Nearly 2 years on and 5 gone, 9 still living.

Prince Philip could soon become the oldest living hereditary peer.

Lady Elizabeth Shakerley, first cousin once removed of The Queen, has died aged 79.

Now I remember  her quite well! She used to appear a lot in channel 5 style royal documentaries  dispensing her wisdom and insight! A rather colourful  character and raconteur!

I met her a few times and she was a friend of a close friend. Totally mad.

She had been sick for ages. Chain smoker, refused to quit.

Formerly Lady Anson? She arranged a disco for a very young Prince Charles & initially refused to believe that the DJ wanted as much as £25 "just to play records"!
