I know a lot of gay Tories.

I often wonder why they are that way. Supporting the Conservatives I mean.

If even a quarter of the vast numbers of people this government claim were left wing extremists actually were we'd have statues of eternal leader Tony Benn every fucking where.

Sad that we're in a position where someone as colossal a failure as Truss has any influence whatsoever, let alone one claiming the mantle of 'popular' conservatism.

Internalised homophobia mixed with not wanting to lose existing privileges.

That's a lot of woke lefty buzz words, so I'll break it down. You're a masculine man who likes other masculine men. Doesn't inherently mean that you're any different from your Conservative-voting peers. You have the same career opportunities as every other man, unlike the feminine ones. You're not likely to get beaten up on the bus, unlike the ones who stand out. Normal people would accept the gays if they didn't demand respect, and worked as hard as you to get ahead in society, right?

The front row of Popular Conservatives in full - add your own captions before the front page of Private Eye gets in there

And the report with the ironic twist that Truss, who was the marquee turn at this gig, remains one of the least popular politicians in the country according to pollsters: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68218299

Politico poll of polls currently has Labour 44%/ Conservative Party 24%

They are all looking to the right.

Looks like the front row of a 21st century Nuremberg trial.

Bore us some leagues to sea, where they prepared
A rotten carcass of a butt: not rigged,
Nor tackle, sail, nor mast. The very rats
Instinctively have quit it.

Oh look, Labour’s £28bn green pledge wasn’t dropped after all, despite earlier mindless speculation.

Basically Starmer wants to keep it but many of his advisors and shadow cabinet members want to drop it.

God, I must be psychic.

Sources for the bold, please. I'm expecting many given that's the word you used.

You're really not cut out for political commentary.

But a short and lucrative spell on GB News is probably there for the taking!

This speculative article mentions a difference of opinion based on optics, and any uncertainty over the £28bn figure is down to the need for caution given the cataclysmic damage that has been inflicted on our economy in recent times. The policy is going nowhere, much like your train of thought.

@The Old Crem you really need to get yourself out more. You need to find more productive ways to spend your time other than posting speculative jargon in this thread.

God, this is like pulling teeth.

They are no longer using the ‘£28bn’ figure as they can’t guarantee what the economy will look like in a few months time. That’s all they’re “scrapping”. Not the policy.
