TQR 14,385 Posted May 5, 2022 It’s very early but so far in the few wards that have been counted, Labour have lost a little bit of the share of the vote just as the Tories have. We may yet see plenty of happy Independents and Lib Dems nationwide, and both main parties enjoying a bin fire of leadership dissatisfaction.

It's very early still but Labour won the Tory flagship London councils as expected, and also Barnet (quite good going given how toxic they were there 2 years ago), but have also won in Cumberland where they did notoriously shite under Miliband and Corbyn. I didn't expect Workington and Carlisle going Labour. Lib Dems continue to feast on Tory votes in the south of the country. Scotland/Wales/N Ireland still to declare. Red Wall pretty much level with 2018 voting, which was before the collapse there. First step forward for Labour in a long time, but they've got a lot of work still to do. Obviously the Mail/Tory leaks of 800 seat losses were utter bollocks. But I think most of us knew that one.

From a non royal/republican pov, it's fascinating to see the usual press suspects go from years of "Barmy Prince has woke sons, mad green ideas, was mean to Saint Diana of Our Hearts (formerly The People's Jezebel ruining Britain with her whoredom 1994-97 TM) to suddenly twigging he's going to be the King in the near future. The U-turn to "he's going to be the King, suck up to him" is hilarious. I'm sure similar things happened in 1898-1901 with playboy don Teddy becoming statesman future king Edward.

msc 18,437 Posted May 11, 2022 Just now, Bibliogryphon said: "As true King my reign began, though I was now older than your Nan" From the Horrible Histories George IV Song The only one of their songs I remember is "Divorced, Beheaded, Died, Divorced, Beheaded, Survived." Wrong age. Mind you, I do still remember most of the Animaniacs Presidents song ("James Garfield someone really hated, coz he was assassinated") despite it being 4 Presidents out of date now. And the Monkey Song, which only told us that we don't know what to say the monkeys wont do. Come to think of it, Yakko's World song is probably very out of date now too.
