Not for me, Jeff. You know how Mobb Deep said "there ain't no such thing as half-way crooks"? There also ain't no such thing as half-way edgelords. If you're going to be offensive for the sake of being offensive, put it up to 11. VLS wanted the private schoolboy "ain't I being naughty" thrill of edginess but his targets were always so fucking milquetoast and obvious.

We are left with Charlie Brooker. Maybe.

I think there's a void for someone to prick the pomposity of British TV in a proper fashion.

Piss-poor impression, according to the report.

Quote

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and a BBC spokesperson said details would be confirmed "in due course".

It is understood that the accident did not happen at high speed.

Can we expect a similarly tasteless joke from Frankie Boyle?

Oh if only, tv and the media in general is more awash than ever these days with insipid nonentities full of their own importance, all the things on tv VLS used to rail against have seemingly got a thousand times worse; phoney virtue signalling, contempt for the viewers’ intelligence, fascist box-ticking (to quote Mike Leigh) no wonder he gave up the ghost

So, one of the best tasteless jokes when Richard Hammond nearly died in that dragster accident came from Stewart Lee

To summarise a point made in a rambling rant - he pointed out that Hammond had used the accident as a major part of a best-selling book about his life and made loads of money. Lee's point was that Hammond should have been made to publish the book through BBC publications so's the public could cash in on those profits since it was the public - via their licence fees - who'd funded the near-fatal accident in the first place.

Stewart Lee’s stuff was excellent, but it doesn’t beat Boyle’s line that “the anti-speeding advert should just be footage of Richard Hammond trying to remember his own wedding day”.

Aye, and his own colleagues had a few quips to make too:

Also an author.

He produced the show "Life and Death on Heroin". Did he get inspired a little too much?

Your link is for another BBC presenter who has died - Simon Yaxley.

Seemed like a fairly minor crash all things considered though, even if it looks pretty darn bad.
