The Old Crem 3,608 Posted September 12, 2022 Must be a fair chance of a time with no reigning Queen as she is six years older than the King of Sweden (Whose Heir is his daughter) so will probably go first.

Hasn't the King of Sweden had some significant health problems though? I don't like the thought of a world without any Queens!

I don't like the thought of a world without any Queens! Not sure, the King of Norway sure has. But Carl XVI Gustaf's two predecessors, his grandfather and grandfather's father both lived to their nineties, 92 and 90 (and two of his uncles lived to 94 and 95) and he's only 76 with as far as I know no major health problems. Could live another 15+ years, but I think there's a chance he could abdicate at some point in the near future as his daughter seems to be much more popular.

This wiki list doesn't have any other queen: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_reigning_monarchs_by_length_of_reign And the Sultan of Brunei is reigning longer than Margarethe...

If Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands hadn't abdicated we would now have two Queens but Margrethe now about to celebrate her golden jubilee of fifty years on the throne may get a psychological and emotional boost from reaching that milestone that will keep hee going a bit longer as well as determination to maybe fight and battle on knowing she is the last Queen standing!

No thats not what I mean. Well there is abit of a difference between 82 and 96!! Besides maybe it worked in reverse here and it was a desire to reach the platinum jubilee that helped keep the Queen going as long as she did.
