Cain Velasquez, one of the few MMA guys someone like me could name, arrested on attempted murder charge after shooting someone.

Guess any rematches with Brock are off.

MMA bad boy Anthony Johnson is apparently very ill, but it's unclear what exactly it is:

https://www.mmanews.com/2022/10/anthony-johnson-health-update-october/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Johnson_(fighter)

It's been an ongoing issue since last year. He had been retired from 2017 to 2021, only to immediately drop out again because of his problems.

If you ever wanted to see someone get shit pumped out of their stomach, he's put it on bloody Instagram. Didn't want breakfast anyway.

It's still unclear what it actually was. I sometimes wonder why people wouldn't tell, especially since it was a long health fight.

This should go here. ;)

I'm sure this thread had tags when I made it. I could try and add them again.

Thanks for letting me know, I didn't remember this topic, can I move it? I typed MMA in the search and nothing came up anyway

No worries. Fine in both threads now.

I think three letter searches in general turn up nothing from memory, though this may have changed. Mixed martial arts will turn up, muay thai that sort of thing. Ah, that's the extra tag I wanted!

It will take you about 9 months or even more to know all the nightmare threads here!  And even then, even some of us old stagers post in the less appropriate threads sometimes!!!! :old:

:velho:

Thanks, it's true, I think searches with 3 letters won't return anything, but I don't think I'll forget about this topic anymore:D

Friends and MMA colleagues have paid tribute to amateur MMA fighter Shalie Lipp, 21, who died in a two-vehicle accident in Minnesota on Sunday. Valley News Live reports that Lipp was one of two passengers in a Chevy Malibu when it “made contact” with a Jeep Cherokee carrying three passengers on Red River Bridge in Moorhead around 11:30 a.m. The report said she was the only fatality and the only person not wearing a seat belt.

Julie Kedzie - retired UFC fighter is donating her brain (but not yet, she's only 42)

Smart - she has BA and MA qualifications in English Literature but she's very vocal about the mental problems she's suffering, likely linked to her fighting career

MMA fighter and friend of Kadyrov Khamzat Chimaev has recently suffered from some mystery illness that put him in ICU with swollen face and a bloodshot eye. Only 29 years old but he already has permanent lung damage from a difficult bout of covid that required multiple hospitalisations and had a "cancer misdiagnosis" two years ago because he keeps coughing up blood.

Ashley Nichols, Canadian strawweight fighter, dead at 37: https://www.mmafighting.com/2024/2/14/24072542/invicta-lfa-vet-ashley-nichols-dead-at-37

No cause of death. But report that "demons haunted her". Sounds like she offed herself.

“Nichols’ former coach, Jeff Harrison, initially wrote that the cause of death could not be determined, but quickly recanted.

“Demons haunted her…”

Mark Coleman, apparently a big name in MMA and freestyle wrestling (initial UFC Heavyweight Champion and an UFC Hall of Famer), on ventilator and in critical condition following house fire

Reading about him, he sounds like a nice guy who's suffered a lot in life, and has also been hospitalised atleast four times within the last six months before this.
