Now there’s someone who lived a full life. Beauty queen, journalist, TV presenter, entrepreneur, and a former First Lady of Kentucky. Although this old Peanuts cartoon will always be the first thing I think of whenever I hear her name mentioned.

The winner of Sri Lanka's biggest beauty prize has suffered head injuries after a brawl broke out on stage.  Beauty queen Pushpika De Silva won the "Mrs Sri Lanka" title at a ceremony on national TV on Sunday.  Moments later, the 2019 winner seized Mrs De Silva's crown, claiming she could not be awarded the title because she was divorced.  Etc etc.

Maruja García, spanish model, Miss Spain and Miss Europe, both in 1962 has died at 77-78

https://www.ultimahora.es/noticias/local/2021/05/27/1269005/fallece-maruja-garcia-nicolau-mallorquina-mas-bella-europa.html (in spanish)

She had a hard and interesting life.

Her family was very poor.

She went from being a socks saleswoman to the most beautiful woman of Europe.

It's not bad.

I was wondering how many pre-1960 Miss Europes are alive (and Maruja Garcia's predecessors, as the 1961 winner is dead.)

1939 - Italia Brandinoso (birth date unknown) No death date mentioned anywhere, however probably not alive.

1949 - Juliette Figueras (b. 1929)

1950 - Hanni Schall (birth date unknown) Not much information on her

1953 - Eloisa Cianni (b. 1932)

1954 - Christel Shaack (b. 1925) dethroned, Danielle Génault (birth date unknown, unknown if alive) assumed

1959 - Christine Spatzier (birth date unknown, unknown if alive)

1960 - Anna Ranalli (b. 1942)

Assume this is the correct category for such information, and not a death or (I assume?) life threatening condition, but Canadian supermodel Linda Evangelista says she has been a recluse for the past 5 years after a botched cosmetic procedure which was supposed to reduce her fat has instead increased her fat cells in a 'very rare but serious' side effect that is not entirely understood. Apparently she is unrecognisable. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-58662756

Earliest surviving Miss America winner is now BeBe Shopp, 91 (1948)?

And then there is a seven year gap to 1955 winner (and catwoman actress) Lee Meriwether, 86.

And to add to your point in the Miss USA contest , distinct from the Miss America contest , Jackie Loughery 91 this year is the earliest surviving winner of that contest.
