Five, Six, Seven, Eight! Proponents of Dance as suggested by Sir C need their own thread, whether that be on land, sea or ice.

So let's move off with Sally Gross, proponent of minimalist dance who was the subject of the late Albert Maysles documentary The Pleasure Of Stillness, who has died at 81 from ovarian cancer. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/26/arts/dance/sally-gross-choreographer-of-minimalist-dances-dies-at-81.html?_r=0

Anyone think of other candidates for The Grand Ball On The Other Side?

We'll you stole my idea for a dancer thread but we had some good suggestions for subtitles and it wasn't going to be limited to ballet necessarily. But alls fair, you landed the first obit you get to call the shots. Grrr

Lol

Apologies Sir C, if it helps the obit was over 13 hours old by the time I posted it and I was completely unavailable yesterday.

Here's a choon as way of offering: https://youtu.be/aenJ5V43Xvk

I'm not going to lie. This is probably my least favorite song of all time.

Here's a choon as way of offering:

I rather enjoy the topic has been launched. I've been away a bit the past few days research-wise as I have gone back to life on the oil rigs and besides 12-hr days we are in remote areas not keen on telecommunication towers. The effort using my iPhone is a bother. So well done mate!

The dance model of snow white from the 1937 film Marge Champion is 96 on 2nd September. She also modelled for the Blue fairy in Pinocchio and the hippo in Fantasia.Should get a UK obit even though I doubt her name rings a bell with most people.

I've heard of her, though I guess I'm middle aged (it's a lie I tell ya, I'm 12 in the head). Tell you what, right now I will 100% guarantee she obits in the UK. If not, I'll take a fortnight off posting - yeah, I'm putting my double twunt on the line here!

Now be a good reptile next time and attach said video. :-)

I'm off to find it and see who this stiff is.

(Edit: he went from a dancer to portraying a transsexual? A stunning transformation!)

Wow we must have entered a slow death period if we are having discussions about backing dancers on 25 year old pop videos

Legendary Indian classical dancer, Mrinalini Sarabhai, has died from complications related to old age, her family said. She was 97.

Sarabhai was admitted to a hospital in the western Indian city of Ahmadabad with an infection, her son Kartikeya Sarabhai said. She died in the hospital Thursday after her condition deteriorated overnight.

Alice Barker, the centennarian former Harlem Renaissance dancer who I picked in the Deathrace, died a month ago:

In spite of making pretty much every news outlet on this planet a year ago, she did not obit anywhere...

Ok I'm about 75% sure on this one, but I've gathered enough information to post this, and happy to be challenged on it with counter information.

Here is a death notice for Malcolm Goddard who died on 13th June 2016. http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/204043/obituary

As you will see, donations are to the Gordon Edwards Charitable Trust: http://opencharities.org/charities/241297 which provides financial assistance for students of dancing.

This leads me to discover a choreographer Malcolm Goddard on IMDB here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0323811/ who appeared on The Arthur Haynes Show amongst others, but who also danced with Alicia Markova in Giselle. Indeed, that Malcolm Goddard was mentioned as attending Dame Alicia's funeral here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/somerset/4080153.stm

Finally, the age is not given in the death notice but searching for the full name gives a Malcolm Lorden Goddard born in August 1926: http://www.checkcompany.co.uk/director/5774773/MR-MALCOLM-LORDEN-GODDARD so he would have been 89 when he died and would also have been old enough for the performances mentioned on IMDB.

I hope after all that, I'm right.

Marge Champion is 97 today! :birthday::party:

Yessir I noticed that last night and marked for future reference.

Hey Y-Dub didn't your thread have a subtitle? Seems I recall one but I've been known to misremember.

Hmm, what could it be 'thinks'. Last Tango anywhere; from macabre to the dying swan; a tribute to Iron Maiden's 13th album.....enough already I hear you say...
