1 & 15 are the world's oldest Woman and Man - I'm a little uncertain of them getting any kind of obituary in Britain though :evil2:

Unfortunately Elizabeth Bolden is no longer the world's oldest person,

she's been superseded by Maria Esther Capovilla, from Ecuador.

This might mean Lizzie Bolden might not get the required UK obit, but I'm guessing she probably will.

When are we going to see the entries? Has Rude Kid been doing too much partying?

That was why I took Lizzie off my DDP list. I put her on Hartlepool though, since she'll probably get an U.S. obit as the oldest living United Statsian.

By the way, I've seen at least two jokers for this Ross Davidson fellow? Could someone inform me as to who this is now that teams are locked in?

Ex soap opera actor. Was on the telly a lot about 15 years ago. Has a brain tumour. Not loking good.

Ahhh... yes, I remember there was a thread about him around here a while back. Thank you, my memory has been jogged.

Sure Ross will probably die in '06, but he really is a most insignificant actor,

His imdb biog is laughable. I wouldn't even let him taint my obscure DDP team.

I agree, I felt ashamed to list him but got over it.

He's my joker.

I also have him listed as my joker, and Eejit selected him as the joker for his team as well.

But, but, but... How can someone be passed out as the oldest living person. Did someone change their date of birth by deed pole? ;)

Bolden's only hope is outliving Capovilla, IMHO.

Lansana Conte, I had on my possibles list but for someone with a "terminal illness" he seems to be doing rather well. Too much politicalization in that one to plump for him.

Morning all, and Happy New Year! Long time since I've been on here.

Just to let you know that the DDP2006 website's almost ready - I'm just doing some tidying-up of the data, then I'll generate and upload the '06 pages, Siegfried will close off the '05 competition, and we're away. It's been a real effort this time - 233 teams have entered and chosen 951 different celebs - so please bear with us for another day or so.

As for my team:

1) Muhammad Ali

2) Henry Allingham

3) Jeremy Beadle

4) Ronnie Biggs

5) Michael Carroll

6) Ross Davidson

7) Maria Esther de Capovilla

8) Gerald Ford

9) Rev Billy Graham

10) Brian Harvey

11) Stephen Hawking

12) Norman Kember

13) Joe Longthorne

14) George Melly

15) Emiliano Mercado del Toro

16) Tammy Faye Messner

17) Ruby Muhammad

18) Harold Pinter

19) Lou Rawls (JOKER)

20) Sir Cyril Smith

Some random thoughts on these:

Carroll - Drugs overdose, or even suicide when it finally dawns on the moron that he's spunked all his cash away?

Melly - I read an interview a few weeks ago in which he said something along the lines of "Death is knocking loudly at my door". C'mon, George, 12 months should be long enough for you to shuffle over there and open it!

Smith - I could've sworn he died years ago, but apparently not - still with us at 77, albeit not quite as lardy as he used to be.

That's all for now, but I'll try to be a more regular visitor to DL this year!

- RK

A few thoughts...

233 teams ;) Nearly 1,000 'celebrities' - that the site will be up in a "few days" is nothing short of a miracle.

Hopefully DDP has been helped by people, who when entering new people, put as many details as possible down. Then DL'rs won't have to list many mistakes, as hopefully there won't be so many.

Unique picks may make all the difference, I guess.

On two other points:

IMDB is not great for British TV actors. The TV Tome page is better, IMDB is extremely US-biased. Davidson ahs done more than his IMDB page suggests.

Norman Kember... if he was killed in 2005 - IF - what are the rules with that one?

very interesting....

Welcome to our special band, OWHH. You'll be sleeping in the stables with the Four Horseman's Horses to start, we'll fix you up somewhere more permanent later.

Hes a popular one that Henry Allingham. Poor thing.

I feel kind of bad about putting war veterans in.

But then i think, what diference is there between putting in them to an actor or actress. The whole thing is still the same.

Am I the only person NOT to have Henry Allingham in the line up?
